A great pub within walking distance of the Hyatt. The menu was full of excellent pub food. The fish and chips were very tasty. Light and crispy, not oily. The fries were also crispy with a flavored salt. They had excellent drinks selections. **** Mary had a British selection with a scotch egg !!! Ambience was that room but typical pub with Darkwood.... Service was a little bit slow, and the waitress seems challenged,... View all feedback.
What Shamir W doesn't like about Lars' Couch:
This is my go to place for English fare in down town. Big open space, outside seating (seasonal), lawn bowling (seasonal), place to watch sports like cricket and football (soccer). Was in the mood for fish and chips and stopped by here for lunch the other day and the food didn't disappoint. The fish was cooked perfectly with crispy outside and flaky inside. The chips were also cooked and seasoned well and were a gene... View all feedback.
Always love a visit to Brits Pub! This time I tried the poutine and the sampler, both great. Would definitely get the poutine again but I didn't love enough of the sampler items to warrant the price. This place always has great service and it's so big so always plenty of seating. We also played a bit of trivia!
You don't need a passport or to hop on a plane to feel like you have transported across the Atlantic to this awesome British pub. I could not believe how huge this place is...lots of seating options inside and outside and they even host private events. We sat outside next to the lawn bowling area...with great views of the Minneapolis skyline and had great service. Wonderful and very authentic fish and chips!
I recently stopped in for trivia on a Wednesday night with friends and we had an ok time. The food was fabulous, many of us had the fish and it was great. The breading was really nice and the tartar sauce was fantastic. I substituted the fries for a twice baked potato, I would come back solely for that it was out of this world tasty. There was plenty of seating and the atmosphere was comfortable. The negative of the visit came in terms of our server. He was downright annoying and rude. And he seemed in a rush to get rid of us even though it was very obvious we were there for trivia and would be hanging around for the full 2 hours. My friend 's salad came without the chicken and was also missing other toppings. When she asked about it, he was annoyed and it seemed like a major inconvenience when she said is this supposed to have tortilla strips instead of him being like sorry about that! He said sure.. . And this continued for anything else we asked for or even as we tried to order more drinks. It was very clear he didn 't want to be there and wanted us gone. Again we did enjoy our time, but it was really awkward with the negative service we received.
Love this place! It's like stepping into Great Britain for dinner. The service was fantastic; our server was polite, professional and very helpful with menu selections as well as drink specials. The scotch eggs were excellent as was the fish chips. The only reason I didn't give a 5 was the hostess; she seemed confused and overwhelmed even though it wasn't busy at all. She sat us in the side room instead of the main dining area, presumably because she didn't know what she was doing. Definitely recommend making a trip to experience this unique place.
The chips were also cooked and seasoned well and were a generous portion. My only gripe was that they have recently increased their prices (like everyone else) and a two piece fish and chips cost me $35 (no drink but including tip). That to me was a little steep.
