Cottage Market - Minett
Cottage Market
Description
An upscale lakeside spot earns praise for a cozy breakfast buffet, scenic views, friendly bar staff and standout fries and steaks, yet experiences are uneven. Diners report slow, inconsistent service, high prices and a limited menu; some flagged wilted salad greens and potential food-safety issues, while burgers were criticized as frozen and overcooked. Ideal for a leisurely breakfast or a lively night at the bar, but expect mixed food quality and delays at dinner.

My wife fell ill with symptoms resembling food poisoning after our visit. The buffet featured wilted arugula that appeared to have been left out from the previous seating and was not refreshed. The service was the worst I have ever encountered; it took 34 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. The staff seemed poorly trained, and the language barrier led to our requests being overlooked and unaddressed. For $150, I expected much more. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking value, quality food, and especially good service!
Wow, why is it so expensive? They charge a fortune for just average food. It cost us $90 with taxes for a buffet for two that only had one meat option. Are you serious? They really have you at their mercy since there are no other options in the area.
We were a large group of 15 and were the only patrons in the restaurant on Friday night. The wine was overpriced. We had six children with us. My cousin’s main dish, a nativity, was quite good. I ordered a salad and some appetizers, but nothing really stood out, except for the truffle fries, which were so salty that I couldn't eat them! The vegetable samosas were probably the highlight of the meal. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff are very friendly. However, I wouldn't recommend dining here.
We were a large group (15) but the only people in the resto Friday night. Wine grossly overpriced. Service took forever and we had 6 kids with us. My...
I usually go here with the family but I am on a business trip so I ate at the bar. Bar staff are awesome per usual. Adam and Chris have been there for years and always entertain. I ordered the steak frites medium rare. It was perfectly cooked and was delicious. The frites were a mix of sweet potato fries and their standard thicker cut fries. Now I am more of a shoestring cut fry guy these were very good combined with their aioli. I almost went for the prime rib but they marinated the skirt steak to perfection. Lower grade meat but elevated to a higher level for sure. My experience in the restaurant side is generally slow service in the past. The attention at the bar is bar none... Oops really bad pun. If you are without kids for an evening sit at the bar. The patron are entertaining as well depending on how late you go out ;
