My partner opted for the fishcake. We sat outside at colorful tables under an umbrella, but there's also an indoor dining area at the back.

You can dine inside the restaurant, sit outside in the front, or get takeout. Only chips and cod are gluten-free, so unfortunately there are no gluten-free sausages available. However, they are available in kids' meals, which made my daughter very happy. All gluten-free items are cooked in a separate fryer. There are no signs or advertising indicating gluten-free options, so we only found out by asking.

It truly deserves the five-star rating we gave it. We ordered a small cod and chips, along with a regular portion that included mushy peas and proper peas—not artificially colored bright green ones. Both meals were served piping hot. The batter on both portions was light and crispy, and the fish was fresh and flavorful. The chips were perfectly cooked and not greasy at all. It's great to know that meals here are cooked to order, which is quite rare these days. The portion sizes were also very generous. We chose to sit outside, although the indoor dining area is quite nice as well. The staff was friendly and polite, which added to the overall enjoyable experience. The Cod Shop is definitely worth a visit, and I highly recommend it—we will certainly be returning!
