Very crowded. Only my 3rd time there. Excellent, as it was I the past! Even tho it was crowded, we were seated within minutes after arriving with reservations. Such variety, drinks and food! Everything was excellent! Highly recommend!
Our first visit to Maxie's could not have been better. The menu items that we ordered were spectacularly prepared and some of the best tasting versions that we had ever had. The staff was excellent and the portions were enormous. Although we do not live in the area, we are already planning on returning to Maxie's with others. Thank you for a memorable dining experience.
Went during happy hours. Ate appetizers and drank wine. Wonderful evening
Always bang-uo food and drinks and terrific service at Maxie's! One of my favorite restaurants in Milwaukee!
They have a super deal for high quality oysters...$1 each. I had another appetizer as well, but their dishes are excellent.
The restaurant Maxie's offers a taste of New Orleans with wonderfully prepared food and excellent drinks. The atmosphere is lively and filled with friendly staff members. Customers have praised the delicious cornbread and butter served with every meal, as well as the variety of flavorful dishes available. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant tends to get busy, especially during happy hour. Overall, Maxie's is a top choice for those looking for a fantastic dining experience with great service and exceptional food.

Maxie never has a pleasure. the personal is friendly and knowledgeable. eating is always good and the restaurant is always filled with funny and friendly people.
Maxie's is our place of choice whenever we feel the need for a taste of New Orleans. The food is wonderfully prepared and the portion more than adequate. Our drinks were excellent. Kevin is a great server.
Always great food and good service .. thank you from bringing a little piece of New Orleans here for me and my bf .. it’s a special place for both of us separately! It was his first time and he said he’d definitely love to go back !
Great food. Poor service asked for blue cheese for my salad that never came, 2 in our party asked for a second drink only one got it until I walked to find our waiter and complained 10 minutes later.
Always a great experience with oyster shooters to start, a nice glass of wine and soul stirring meal. Come hungry and expect leftovers!

Heard about this place from going to games at Amfam. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, jambalaya, and brisket. The server was really great!!
My husband and I love Maxie’s! If you enjoy oysters, then I recommend coming during happy hour to take advantage of their oyster deal. I also highly recommend making a reservation (rather than walking in without one). They tends to get pretty busy. All meals are served with delicious cornbread and butter. If you are considering an appetizer, then I recommend the BBQ shrimp it will not disappoint. As far as entrees go, the BBQ Tofu Plate is great. The tofu has a smoky flavor and it goes well with the creole.
Dinner with friend. Our waiter was very awesome. Food was delightful as well. Would definitely recommend a try if your in Milwaukee.
We've been eager to try Maxie's, so when we managed to snag a reservation with only a day's notice, we decided to go for an early dinner at 4:15 PM. As soon as we arrived, we were promptly seated. The restaurant had just opened, but the dinner crowd was already starting to gather, and by the time we left shortly after 5 PM, it was packed. We started with two drinks: a Hurricane and a Maxie's French Kiss. Both were exceptional. Shortly after that, we were treated to some complimentary cornbread, which was sweeter and more crumbly than most I’ve had, but absolutely delicious. For our entrees, we skipped appetizers knowing we would be indulging in dessert later. Andrea ordered the four-piece fried chicken dinner, which came with mashed potatoes, maple-braised collard greens, and a homemade flaky biscuit. She described it as "perfect in every way,” and recommended using the hot vinegar on the chicken for an extra kick. I chose the Frogmore Stew, a delightful combination of shrimp, ocean fish, mussels, and chicken chorizo, accompanied by corn and onion in a light broth, served with toasted bread. If I had to suggest one modification, it might be the chicken chorizo, but I have to say I didn’t leave any of it on my plate. When it came time for dessert, we faced the delightful dilemma of choosing what to get. In the end, we decided to order one dessert to share and one to take home. Our first dessert was the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding, which was another stellar dish from Maxie's. It had the perfect texture, wonderful flavor, and just the right level of sweetness, complemented by some salted nuts. The second dessert, enjoyed hours later, was the original reason we had chosen Maxie's. The Peanut Butter Pie comes highly recommended, and it’s easy to see why. Many peanut butter desserts can be overwhelmingly rich, but this one strikes a perfect balance of chocolate, a delicate peanut butter cream, salted candied nuts, and a crisp crust. It was simply incredible. The service throughout the evening was impeccable, and we felt that we could have picked anything off the menu and ended up with something amazing. We're already looking forward to returning soon and can’t believe we didn’t come here sooner. This place has quickly risen to the top of our favorite dining spots!
I had an incredible experience at this restaurant! The staff at the front door were very friendly. We sat in a cozy corner upstairs, which felt private and safe thanks to the generous spacing. Our waitress on Friday night was outstanding. I ordered the fish and fries, which were delicious, and I found the coleslaw to have a unique flavor that I really enjoyed. The portion sizes were large enough that I even had some to take home. The cornbread was delightfully fluffy and sweet, and it tasted just as good the next day. This restaurant truly deserves praise. Hats off to the manager! The only regret I have is not ordering the French Kiss drink, which looked and sounded amazing! I already know what I'll be ordering on my next visit, which will be soon. Keep up the excellent service!

We had been eager to try Maxie’s, so to secure a reservation on just one day’s notice, we opted for an early dinner at 4:15 pm. Upon arrival, we were seated right away. Although the restaurant had only just opened, dinner service was already in full swing, and by the time we left shortly after 5 pm, it was packed. We started with two drinks: a Hurricane and Maxie’s French Kiss—both were excellent. Soon after, complimentary cornbread was served. It was sweeter and crumblier than most cornbread I’ve had, but absolutely delicious. For our entrees, we skipped appetizers, knowing we’d be indulging in dessert. Andrea Dexter ordered the four-piece fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, maple-braised collard greens, and a homemade flaky biscuit. She described every element of her meal as perfect. Don’t forget to use the hot vinegar available at the table—it’s essential on the chicken. I chose the Frogmore Stew, which featured shrimp, ocean fish, mussels, and chicken chorizo with corn and onions in a light broth, served with toasted bread. The chicken chorizo was the only component that might have been improved, but I still finished every bite on my plate. Dessert was a tough choice, so we decided to share one dessert at the table and take another to go. We started with the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding, another flawless hit from Maxie’s. It had the perfect texture, great flavor, just the right level of sweetness, and was balanced with salted nuts. Later, we enjoyed the Peanut Butter Pie, which was the main reason we chose Maxie’s. It’s highly recommended, and for good reason. Unlike most peanut butter desserts that can be overpowering, this one strikes the perfect balance of chocolate, delicate peanut butter cream, salted candied nuts, and a crisp crust, delivering an incredible bite. Service throughout the evening was impeccable, and honestly, we could have ordered anything on the menu and been equally delighted.
I highly recommend dining at Maxie’s. Normally, I’m not a fan of oysters, but the Fried Oysters here are my absolute favorite! Fantastic food, delicious cocktails, and live music!
I was truly impressed by my experience. I went for an early dinner on Saturday with my family, and our waiter was fantastic. He seemed to really enjoy his job, which set the tone for a wonderful meal. I ordered the fried chicken, and the breading was outstanding. It had a hint of honey that made it pleasantly sweet. As delicious as it was, after chatting with our waiter, I'm genuinely looking forward to returning to try their Nashville hot chicken next time. My wife ordered the BBQ shrimp with a side of mac n cheese, and she really loved both dishes. Having spent some time in New Orleans, she had been searching for good seafood and finally found it here. My son had a burger and managed to eat most of it, which indicates it must have been tasty. We will definitely be back and will happily recommend this place to others.
I travel frequently for work, and this is by far the best food I've had in quite some time. Each dish was cooked to perfection, and the drinks were delightful. The waiter provided quick and charming service to every table. It was absolutely fantastic!
I just wanted to share what a wonderful experience we had tonight! I made a reservation, and we were seated right away. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. We kicked off our meal with some delicious oysters. My dinner companion ordered the brisket, while I had the pecan-crusted trout along with a side of grits. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous! I couldn't finish my meal and had to take some home. Thank you for a memorable evening; I can’t wait to return soon!
