They have a style of a sort of more baked outer layer, that isn't hard, and just perfectly chewy. Not sure what that's called or a better way to describe it, but it's really great, and you should try them if you haven't.

Incredibly nice considering she had no obligation. Fantastic service and great bread. UPDATE (4/9/2020): Still great service! They are still being amazing purveyors of bread, even through this COVID-19 pandemic. I especially appreciate the gentleman behind the counter (never caught his name). He has always been patient with me when I can't make a decision on the type of bread. If the owners are reading this, he deserves a raise!

However, recently on a Sunday, I arrived just 8 minutes late because of... read more I’m a regular at Breadsmith and absolutely love their bread—it's the best I've ever had! However, recently on a Sunday, I arrived just 8 minutes late because of traffic, and the staff at this location wouldn’t accommodate me. Even though they were still open, they refused to serve me, which felt quite rude and disappointing. I ended up driving nearly 5 miles to the Whitefish Bay branch and then back home, adding an extra 8 miles to my trip. I would advise against relying on this downtown location or the main branch, which closes at 2 pm, if you have tight timing constraints.

This Sunday, I just came 8 mins late due to traffic and tried to ask the personnel in the store to help, she just pointed out at store timings even withoutopening door from distance!it felt very awkward and rude ! I had to head back with lots dissatisfaction and had to drive up towhite fish bay branch which was almost 5 mike's from this and back to home would be extra 8 miles ! Just a suggestion being indowntown and being main branch, closing earlier 2pm) is not recommended!

Their hours are a little inconsistent with the website (said open Sundays online but specifically not open when I showed up) but I am okay withthat considering the food is incredible. I will be back many times!
