Hubei - Millbrae
Hubei
Description
Tucked into a plaza, this unassuming, family-run Hubei spot serves authentic, boldly flavored dishes with generous portions and a real spicy kick. The warm, knowledgeable staff offer helpful recommendations and off‑menu specialties; takeout and delivery remain hot and reliable. Lunches get busy but seating is usually prompt. A few dishes show inconsistent seasoning and some meat portions feel small for the price, but overall it’s a go-to for genuine Hubei comfort food.

To be honest, this is a very bad Hubei restaurant. My boyfriend is from Hubei and wanted to taste the taste of his hometown, so he went to look for food and ordered pork ribs and lotus root soup and hot dry noodles. The hot dry noodles were unimaginably unpalatable. It's so salty that you spit it out right after you put it in your mouth. The pork ribs and lotus root soup tastes pretty good. There are only 3 small pieces of very small pork ribs. 3 small pieces for 20 US dollars? Stealing money? I've been to the supermarket, and I probably know the prices. It's a bit excessive, because even one stir-fried dish is more than your size.
This is a very unassuming place which people pass by without trying. The food is legit good and delicous. Their portions are very generous as well. Will come back for more. The owner waitress is very attentive and helpful if you don 't know what to order. She knows her menu inside out. Parking: Plaza parking
The food was absolutely delicious—definitely the best Chinese cuisine I've had in town. Every dish was packed with flavor and had a genuine kick when labeled as spicy. Plus, the customer service was outstanding!
We've been here several times already and this is now our go-to restaurant for takeout food. The food is always good quality, fresh, and hot even after delivery several miles away. Everything we have tried on the menu is excellent. If you're not sure what to order, the cumin steak, lotus root, and Wuhan Hot/Cold Noodles are all good choices. Also the 汤圆 is not on the menu but is ???? The restaurant itself is open and welcoming. It gets busy during lunch but we have never had to wait for seating. Highly recommend.
Have been looking for legit hubei food forever and this is it. Everything is delicious and super authentic. Chatted w the owners and they even make a lot of things not on the menu you can order. Loved the 热干面, and the sliced fried fish thing. 粑鱼 Reasonably priced too, and portions are reasonable.
