We did a wine tasting then it was time for lunch. We made a reservation and we were met in a very friendly manner and shown to our table. Lots on the menu to choose from. My wife had the beetroot falafel and I had...the burger. Both dishes were ample and tasty. The burger was very thick, juicy with all the trimmings. Service was great and we had an enjoyable experience. The Pinot Noir went well with the burger. View all feedback.
Stopped into the Winery (Tasting Room) first to try a few samplings before walking across to the Restaurant. There isn't a bad table as the location and the ambiance is great! Our Server(s) were simply great, the menu offered some really good choices, which we mixed and matched between us. The food is served in prompt order and we paired with great Winery suggestions that we ended up going back to purchase. Our lunches were simply excellent and ensured our return!
This lovely old house in a vineyard is a wonderful place for lunch or dinner. Very calm, restful and scenic. The food is extraordinary. Great tastes and fine presentation! The service was superb. Their wine is also very good. The lunch special of soup, salad and sandwich was awesome.
When you are going on a wine tour at Cowichan valley, make sure you ask the portions before you order.

I'll preface my review by stating that my family was part of a large group, so our experience may not be typical. On the other hand, we booked our event well in advance, so the restaurant should have been well-prepared.My overall rating of 2 out of 5 is based upon 2/5 for the food, 1/5 for the service and 4/5 for the ambience. The food: I had steak frites with a small salad. The steak, which I ordered rare was cooked unevenly - ranging from a perfect rareness on one side to a full medium + on the other There were some gristly parts. The accompanying red wine jus was very good. The fries were fine, though not made from fresh potatoes. The salad was very, very salty - a number of folks in our party were unable to eat it. The dessert was unmemorable, a sliver of chocolate torte with a teaspoon of sorbet. The service: I was called away from the table and missed ordering and receiving a drink at the start of the meal. I was looking forward to ordering and trying some of the vineyard's own wine. I waited patiently for a server to come ask if I'd like to order something, but no luck. I tried signaling whenever any of the staff came near, but they somehow never saw me. A woman with a large glass carafe of ice water walked by our table, looked at all the empty water glasses then turned around and went to chat with the other employees. It was 55 minutes until I was able to get talk with anyone who was working there - at the time that our food arrived. I mentioned at that time that I had been hoping to order some wine and was informed that they were very busy. I realize that could have got up and gone to the bar to order, but as I was seated at the far end of the table, it would have been quite disruptive to the people seated between myself and the open area. I mistakenly assumed that someone would come over to ask if all was fine.Later on, much after dessert, on the third try, I was able to get the attention of a waiter to order some tea. When it was brought, he lady sitting next to me ordered some also. After waiting 20 minutes, we were able to ask the waiter if it was coming. He responded that he couldn't bring the tea as they had run out of teapots - I wonder how long he would have kept this information to himself? The building and views are very nice. If the weather is congenial, sitting outside would be worthwhile. One thing to consider if you are a parent, and your child is above the age of 7. You may not want to have them order from the children's menu.as. The two chicken strips and sample of fries (with lemonade for only $25) left my child hungry.I would say that overall, the value fell far below what we paid. The food and service were substandard even before considering the amount that we paid. If the food and service had come close to matching the ambience, we would have been very satisfied.
