Pasticceria Passerini - Milano

A friend and local resident of Milan took us to Passerini for a try of her favourite spot for coffee and cake... If you are ever in the Via Victor Hugo area of Milan and looking for a pleasant place to have a break then certainly Passerini is worth a visit... Nice selection of pastries to tempt.

We went there for an icecream, which was okay but nothing outstanding and surely far from the best icecream in milano. Dropping the bombshell: we payed unbelievable 18,5 euros for two two-scooped icecreams and half a liter of still water, because they ridiculously booked a 9€ table tax fee!! Claiming that this procedure was handled all over italy (which is -even by regarding table fees in high quality restaurants -absolutely NOT the case) they tricked us to pay nearly 20€ for a ridicuously serving of middle quality icecream! Sad that they have to use such methods to guarantee their income- which tells its own history.....

Although the food was OK it was not good enough to justify the ridiculous pricing. We paid €50 for what was basically a snack for 3 in an average cafe. €8 for a cake seems excessive and €5 for a cup of hot water with a tea bag which you had to add yourself. If visiting I would advise to check the pricing for each item ordered as it can come as a shock at the end. Not impressed.

Literally around the corner from the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana A very useful coffee and cake stop, with outdoor seating. Excellent coffee, delicious cakes and biscuits coupled with friendly prompt service

We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) and stopped off here for tea and sandwiches. The food and service were good until the bill arrived. Waiter : Here is your bill. Ah you’re paying by card.....but tips can’t be put on card..... Us : I’m sorry but we have no cash. Waiter : Oh, hold on ... there is a problem with your bill... (snatches bill away, takes our credit card away from our sight and returns with another). Here you go, so sorry but the girl on the til is new. (The bill is now €44) Please read into this what you may. We definitely will NOT be returning.
