it caught my attention through his cruel window. it is so empty in good wise) and sober that they must come closer to understand what it really is. When I arrived at the door, I just smelled a mixture of lavender with a care and in love with me. I have no cake to describe how beautiful the inside is, it shows that everything is placed carefully and the details are the sweetest thing ever. I wanted to sit, but of cour... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Doric Tavern:
The food was great but the service was incredibly slow. It took about 20 minutes just to get a food menu, then another 20 minutes for the waiter to take my order. Once I received the check I waited and waited, even though the waiter settled up the tab at the table next to me and simply walked right past. I inevitably got up and approached the bar to pay and found my waiter behind the bar not doing much, if at all (al... View all feedback.
I stopped here because it caught my eye when I passed. The staff was very welcoming and I decided that the smoked salmon begins with the Sirloin as head. The salmon was lovely and perfectly portioned. The Sirloin was perfectly boiled, with medium wheel. I definitely come back when I ever return to Edinburgh.
Cool little hole in the wall place the locals seem to love. Not as crowded with tourists as some other Royal Mile haunts. Also, the Doric IPA is great, and this is a Pacific Northwesterner talking.
Popped into the Doric for a quick drink after work with a colleague. Lovely, friendly staff and extremely reasonably priced drinks given the costs across Edinburgh. We didn't eat but it seemed busy and the smells from the kitchen were mouthwatering. Going to book a table soon.
Went here for fish chips and was not disappointed! Everything tasted very fresh, from the chips to the fish to the side salad. Very cozy atmosphere and super lovely and kind staff. Really do recommend this place!
International reviewer: The Doric is a must do pub/restaurant in Edinburgh's old town. Just a short walk down from the castle, it's a great place for a meal during the day or in the evening after you've been seeing the sights. Great staff, food and drinks. You will need to book if you want a meal as it's popular for a reason. Cozy in winter, you can get a cute view from the second floor restaurant while you munch. Price wise it's all very reasonable, but be warned a main will be enough for most normal eaters (the starters are delicious but unless you're a big eater a main and a starter may be too much). This is important because the desert menu is delicious (see, sticky toffee pudding) and you'll want to have room for it. You have a great range of local and imported drinks we appreciated the local ales they had available at the time. They can also fix you most spirits and even have a delicious cocktail range. Specials rotate daily so they're always worth a look. We'll be back on our next trip for sure.
