Vault Cellar - Middletown
Vault Cellar
Description
A cozy, chef-driven Virginia favorite praised for warm, professional service, expertly crafted cocktails and an extraordinary bourbon selection. Standout bites like Appalachian Egg Rolls and a perfectly cooked Vault Burger share the menu with inventive game and brunch offerings, making it ideal for date nights and special occasions. However, food quality is inconsistent—some mains arrive overcooked or bland—while menu presentation and pricing feel uneven. With strong service and drink programs, the restaurant shows clear potential despite occasional misses.

My daughter and I decided to dine here tonight after her dance recital for some quality father-daughter time. I've visited this restaurant before, but it was her first time. She ordered the Vault Burger, which was cooked perfectly. I went with the Fried Catfish and Lentils. Unfortunately, the catfish was overcooked and burnt, lacking that golden brown, flaky goodness I was hoping for. The lentils were also extremely bland. The highlight of our meal was definitely the Appalachian Egg Rolls we had as appetizers; they were delicious! My total bill came to around $58, which felt a bit excessive considering the burnt catfish and flavorless lentils.
Excellent place! The cocktails are expertly crafted, the service is both professional and friendly, and the food is delicious. They have the longest bourbon selection I've ever encountered. I ordered the boar and my wife had the duck; we both wished we had chosen the venison instead.
I loved everything about this restaurant! The atmosphere was unique, the service was friendly and attentive, and the food was beyond delicious! If I’m ever back in the area I will most certainly be going back!
Totally impressed with the experience. This is a diamond in the rough. Gourmet food and a wicked whiskey selection in a building with a cool vibe.
