Fresh Chinese food that doesn't disappoint. You can tell that the food is cooked fresh and the owner is very sweet. I love the garlic sauce! Definitely a step above the average Chinese take-out place.

This is the best Chinese restaurant I’ve found in Middletown, and it ranks among the top restaurants overall. The menu is impressive and diverse, featuring not only Chinese dishes but also some Japanese and Thai options. The service has always been excellent, although I’ve only ordered takeout and haven’t dined in the restaurant. I don’t have any significant complaints. However, I will say that I’ve had Chinese food that was just as good, if not better, for less money and larger portions at places outside of Delaware. Still, if you’re a local, this spot is hard to beat.

We visited the Golden Rooster for the first time today and were very pleased with our experience. We both opted for the lunch special, which was only $8.25, and the food was fantastic—plenty of it for the price too! The hot and sour soup was excellent and had a nice spicy kick. The shrimp roll was perfectly crispy on the outside, and the filling was both delicious and flavorful. My General Tso's chicken was among the best I've ever had, and my dining companion thoroughly enjoyed his shrimp pad Thai. We live in Newark, and the 25-minute drive was definitely worth it. We will certainly be back!

Everything is homemade and truly captures the authentic flavors of Chinese cuisine. There's nothing else like it—definitely not a chain restaurant.
