What james luski doesn't like about Porky's Middlesex Bbq:
Stopped in today for lunch and waited 20 minutes for my grilled chicken, fries and potato salad. Fries had no salt but there were so many of them. Potato salad was tasty though not made there. Grilled chicken was greasy. View all feedback.
Family members said it was a good place. I won't be back.Just because you grill meat and slap on sauce does not make it BBQ. True BBQ is slow cooked and falling off the bone, this stuff was a work out for the jaw. And too expensive for what you get. Over $60 got me 3 pork ribs, 3 short ribs, and chicken bones with hardly any meat, but a ton of rice and french fries. Forget the beans and rice. I could just as easily open a can of black beans and heat them up.Sticking to the BBQ in the Plainfields.
Big portions of exceptional food. Feeds a family of 4 for less than $50, delivered.

So I had a craving for BBQ tonight but couldn 't find a typical American BBQ place near me. Settled on Portuguese BBQ which is nice too but the places I 've been basically just load you up with carbs like rice, fries, beans sadly the meat is always cooked to death dryer than sand. I ended up picking Middlesex BBQ just based on location reviews expecting more of the same from any old Portuguese BBQ. I was wrong, in fact I 'm so excited about being wrong that I 'm writing this review while I 'm still eating it. I got the chicken pork spare ribs combo with yellow rice black beans. The place looked brand new very clean. The smell of smoked grilled meat pinches your cheek like a grandmother as you walk in the door. About 10min the counter girl brings out this massive tray of food for me I immediately think ok, it 's gonna be a ton of carbs a little bit of cooked to death meat . I get home, crack it open find only 1 small BBQ sauce 1 smaller hot sauce. The hot sauce tastes like Tabasco so no big loss there BBQ tastes homemade, it 's familiar but with a little extra tang to it. I taste the beans, perfectly cooked. Not soggy mush but a tiny bit toothy, same for the rice. Now the main event, THE MEATS!! Chicken 1st, I grab a drumstick see it has a dark golden brown color like a beautiful rotisserie chicken. 1st bite my taste buds yell YOOOO!! WE GOT SOMETHING HERE Whoever seasoned this bird did it with heart soul, it was absolutely perfectly seasoned. Most people would think that 's an easy feat but I was a chef for 15 years at some high end establishments I know that there is entire galaxies inside the details that most overlook. 2nd piece, a thigh, 1st bite the juices are dripping down my chin. Not grease, not fat, but the natural juices of the bird that come out when it 's cooked properly. Now the pork. Pork can be fatty, greasy so I never understand how some places can serve it overcooked dry but not the ribs from Middlesex. These were like large portions of chiccharones, cripsy exterior, a light layer of juicy fat, then tender meat which like the chicken, was perfectly seasoned. I 've finished about half the meal, I 'm completely full but I still want to eat more it 's so good. I don 't know who the grillmaster/pitmaster is there, but they 're an absolute gem I won 't hesitate to order from there again.
AMAZING! The food from MIddlesex BBQ is the real comida caseira ... meaning REAL home made food like it came from mom 's kitchen. We have ordered three times (two for big events! and have not been dissapointed with food quality. Shrimp rice, garlic chicken, ribs, empanadas, ALL delicious!!!! Only complaint is that for both pick up and delivery they take a LONG time... and they will say 10 more minutes which can turn into 40 minutes... but food quality is on point!
