When I travel through Middlesbrough for work, this restaurant is always a must-stop for me. While the city may not be known for traditional British foods, this carvery is a welcome sight. The main attraction for me is the carvery, but the rest of the menu and desserts are also delicious and generously portioned. The familiar and friendly staff add to the welcoming atmosphere of this relatively new pub, making it feel like a cozy spot despite its size.
The food at this restaurant was fantastic. I was very satisfied with my meal. The service and atmosphere were both excellent. I ordered the beef with roast potatoes, carrots, peas, and other sides, and I devoured everything on my plate. The only downside was that I couldn't fit in dessert because I was so full. Overall, I give this restaurant a perfect 10/10 and I definitely plan on returning.
Visited for birthday about 6.30pm on a Tuesday not a matchday. Ordered 2 carveries but when went to get food found barely warm leftovers with food containers virtually empty. There was no stuffing so had to ask for some, no beef as it had all...gone, the mash had to be scraped off the sides, the roast potatoes had gone so hard they could not be cut and the yorkshire puddings were got out of a container under the counter. We even had to wait quite some time for someone to actually come out the kitchen and serve us (how they were not embarrassed to serve such food was beyond me). The place had about 6 customers with no atmosphere. We were never asked if the food was ok when our plates were taken away and made our exit. We only went there because Toby Carvery was full. Never again.
Went with family before the FA cup game with Tottenham, can honestly say the food is the worst pub food we have ever experienced, absolute dross and will not step in the place ever again.
