Description

Thelbridge Cross Inn, nestled in a scenic locale, offers a blend of delightful meals and service, tempered by criticisms regarding its overall execution. Guests have praised the food, particularly dishes like the lamb shank Shepherd's Pie and nut roast, alongside a friendly, attentive staff. However, the atmosphere suffers from a lack of ambiance, with complaints about noise and presentation. Accessibility and room conditions received mixed feedback, and some lamented the cleanliness and utility of the outdoor spaces. While there are shining moments, many patrons cite an inconsistency that may deter repeat visits.

We made a reservation for an early evening roast dinner while visiting family in a nearby village, and we all chose the roast dinner option. As a vegetarian, I had the nut roast, which was absolutely delicious. The meats served to others were well-cooked and generous in portion. The food was beautifully presented and served hot. For dessert, we enjoyed the crumble and the salted caramel cheesecake, both of which were delightful. I highly recommend this pub as a great spot to dine and catch up with family and friends. We will definitely be returning!

I stayed for one night in February and unfortunately can't comment on dinner since the pub was closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and I hadn't made a reservation. The rooms were comfortable, and I had a good night's sleep. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic, and the proprietor was very friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

I had an absolutely fantastic meal from the specials menu. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent. The restrooms were also impeccably clean.

Stopped by for a lovely Sunday lunch, the meal was served hot and well presented. Plenty of veg and roast potatoes for the two of us. Female owner welcoming and friendly. Facilities clean. I would recommend.

We live locally and had wanted to support this pub and it’s new owners. We have had a few meals here- none of which were amazing but we were prepared to wait it out in the hope it would improve. This is a somewhat ‘typical’ poor quality English pub. It has the obligatory large screen TV both in the bar and, remarkably, in the restaurant! Bizarre. There is no atmosphere in the restaurant and on the evenings we have been, you find yourself trying not to listen to the conversations of nearby tables as it is so silent. We have also had to put up with the swearing of customers at other tables. Easily heard thanks to the lack of ambient music. Food is not of a high standard. Overpriced and often overcooked. Portions of meat can be small. Gluten free menu looks ok but when you order you discover that chips and battered food are cooked in the same fryer as gluten containing food. No mention on the menu. Management appear intolerant and bad tempered when dealing with genuine customer complaints. Lots of dishes not available or not complete. We heard a customer being told just before their starters that there was no naan bread for the one of them who had ordered curry ! Long wait for our food to arrive at least 45 minutes . Great view from the car park though. This should be where the garden is. What a waste making this the car park. If this were the garden, people would come for miles to just sit and enjoy the view with many drinks and snacks. Blimey, I’d even go back for that! The car park should be half the size- it isn’t needed. Exterior areas are shabby. Car park is a disgrace- looks like a dumping ground in places. Garden furniture is typical picnic style tables, some in need of replacement. Plastic flowers on restaurant tables and on walls outside. It just lacks style and class. You are paying a lot for a meal but the portion sizes are cheap. Just like everything else! Typical lacklustre pub with no passion, lacking direction. Shan’t be going back and I shall spread the word as I’m a local.
