Valued for its delicious cakes, expertly crafted coffees, and a welcoming atmosphere, the cafe prides itself on using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. However, some recent experiences reflect inconsistencies in service, portion sizes, and pricing that have left patrons feeling less enchanted. While the cafe remains dog-friendly and offers a quaint outdoor space, mixed reviews hint at a need for improvement in both service efficiency and presentation. Overall, it remains a charming destination with potential for enhancement.
My husband and I have visited Swan Neck cafe numerous times while walking along Tiverton canal. The cakes, coffee, and hot chocolate have always been top-notch. However, my recent experience was disappointing. I paid £7.50 for the soup of the day and a roll, only to receive a small coffee cup of soup and a small white roll. Although the soup was delicious, I felt that it was not worth the price I paid. I usually support small independent businesses, but this experience left me feeling taken advantage of. Unfortunately, this time Swan Neck missed the mark.
Our third visit and would go there more often if it was closer ! The cakes are brilliant along with fine coffees . Fabulous service well worth the wait for a great taste. Our lab Milo didn’t miss out thank for his treat!
We are so lucky to have both the Farm shop itself and the lovely Swans Neck cafe right on our doorstep in HALBERTON. The cafe is a small place but with a big heart thanks to the lovely team that run it who are always very friendly and welcoming. Lucy makes a great coffee and the menu whilst small changes daily and uses the freshest ingredients many of which are grown on the farm. The selection of locally made cakes are varied and delicious. Very dog friendly and as well as cosy indoor seating there’s a lovely outside space for good weather. Great for Breakfast, lunch and snacks, ice creams and drinks in between. If you haven’t walked the lovely circular ‘Swans Nest’ canal walk right from the ‘free to park’ farm shop car park starting or finishing with a visit to the cafe you’re missing a treat.
We use the cafe as a family meeting point regularly. The canal is a nice walk and the cafe is dog friendly. Today we had soup which was delicious but took a long time even though there were 4 staff working. The service always seems disorganised, you wait too long for food and particularly coffee. It's a real shame that the service ruins the experience.
This restaurant used to be a favorite spot for us locals to visit, but the prices have become too high for us to afford. Today, we paid £3.60 for a toasted teacake and a coffee, totaling £14 for two. It's no longer just a special treat for us, but a luxury. Although we wish them the best, we sadly had to leave as we cannot justify spending that much.
