The restaurant is under new management. the new owners could not have been more helpful, courteous and friendly. eating is really delicious and cheap.
Sunday we went to The Exeter Inn for the most gorgeous roast beef lunch. Beef cooked to perfection, everything from the delicious pan gravy to the homemade Yorkshire puds were amazing. And the presentation was beautiful. I have one complaint and that’s that I don’t...live closer. One more thing, great service too All in all a perfect Sunday. Thank you Exeter Inn
Did a detour of some 30 miles to have lunch only to be told on arrival, after purchasing drinks ,that there was no electricity in the kitchen. The electrician had been summoned at 8 .30 a.m. and still had not arrived (12.30 We understood...the situation and asked if we could have a sandwich and were told the chef had gone on his rounds and in any case the extractor fans were not working . Eight other people came and went. So I guess 10 people will never go back. I somehow doubt whether any staff turned up for work-it didn't seem the lady in the bar could care a toss.
We thought in the exeter inn for a fast drink after going to exmoor. really nice pub, simple parking and friendly staff. we had no time to eat, but her menu looked great. next time!

After having to reschedule our wedding several times due to the pandemic, we finally decided to tie the knot with only 3 to 4 weeks notice. For our wedding reception, we booked a small group of our closest family at the Exeter Inn. Though we had never been there before, we had heard great things and decided to take a chance. I informed the manager that it was our wedding, but with limited time for planning, I simply requested a few tables for food and asked if they could hang a couple of banners the day before. To our surprise, when we arrived, the whole restaurant had been reserved for our party, giving us the space all to ourselves. The owner warmly welcomed my husband and me, and for the first 10-15 minutes, he took us aside to allow us to savor the moment alone with a complimentary drink. They also took the initiative to decorate a special table for us and introduced us to the room as Mr. and Mrs. Our guests were all extremely impressed with the delicious food and impeccable service. Our evening turned out differently than we had originally planned, but we were both touched by the effort put in to make it so memorable. The staff went above and beyond, and we truly appreciate everything they did to make our wedding reception perfect. Thank you so much, we will definitely be returning!
I visited this restaurant for lunch just before lockdown. We sat in a charming cozy room located at the back of the pub. The service was excellent and the menu had a variety of options. I ordered the fishcake starter, which was delicious, and my husband enjoyed the bacon brioche. We can't wait to come back soon.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, keep up the good work guys. I have been there before and will definitely be coming back. Thank you.
Spur of the moment visit- although did phone in advance. Been past here over the years and seen now open after having been closed for ages. mind you haven’t been this way for a while). Very friendly chap booked us in and met us when we arrived. Speedy and efficient service great food and choice even vegan). Great looking pub, cosy with log burners. Will definitely visit again soon.
It was a last minute Sunday lunch booking for six and the staff did this place proud. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they really went above and beyond. The menu isn't extensive but what is on there is really nice. If you go there and the rice pudding is on the menu it's a must and the portions sizes, well I'll leave you to find that out.
