The food at this restaurant is absolutely amazing. It is the best pub food we have ever tasted. The chef even took the time to come out and chat with customers, which was a really nice touch. The owner is very funny and accommodating. This is definitely our favorite place in Devon. View all feedback.

What Nick H dislikes about Catherine Wheel:

The landlord at this restaurant was extremely rude. Simply getting takeout for lunch was apparently asking too much. It's baffling why someone like that would choose to work in the hospitality industry. View all feedback.

Probably the grumpiest landlord I've ever met. Shocking manners to strangers just passing thru. Oh well, he looks like he might retire soon, thankfully.

We went there for lunch as where we wanted to go was unavailable. It was fairly quiet 4/5 other diners already there but we had to wait 40/45 minutes for our fish chips and ham eggs chips which were very good but it was a long wait. “Canned music” ugh!

Our 4th visit to this delightful village pub and it just keeps on getting better. It’s now our go to place when we have special occasions or special visitors. The Sunday carvery is 1st class and the only place I choose the beef, slow cooked overnight, the chef certainly knows his stuff. On this occasion it was a birthday meal, the best cod in batter Iv had in many a year and the duo of fish cakes went down well across the table. I probably shouldn’t have had a desert, but decided to go for it. Treacle tart, hot custard and clotted cream, Almond and Strawberry pavlova was in order for my guest. A great meal with great service, what more could we ask for ?
