When I lived and grew up in Miami many years ago, my parents used to frequent the bakery of the other family member which was outstanding in its day and is now gone, unfortunately. So, when I asked about it, a family member told me of this place and how they were very similar. They were very correct and so before leaving Miami to go back home, I stopped in and grabbed a variety of small items from sweet to savory jus... View all feedback.

Among the worst empanadas I had. Croquetas were embarrassing. Small menu, refused to make an ice cream coffee overpriced. Not recommended. This is a picture of the cattle emdanada, does it look appetizing? View all feedback.
The family loves getting sweet little somethings and Flan made with Splenda. Cortadios is a must.
Unique and delicious approach to the classic croquettes!!!! It was my first time at Gilbert’s. I was surprised with all the vegetarian and even vegan choices. I tried several style croquettes: asparagus was mild in taste, not very flavorful spinach tasted very much like spinach. The Romero croquette was the winner. Full of flavor, a bit spicy with a touch of almonds. The service was fast, and friendly. They even cooked additional croquettes for me. Location was Nice and clean! My hubby ordered a sweet little dessert, and cortadito with evaporated milk. He enjoyed it very much.
Gilbert’s has been among my favorite pastry’s and coffee places in Miami for 20+ years now. Is a must go place in Miami. Cortadito with evaporated milk is the highlight. If you have not visited Gilbert’s, you have not experienced Miami.
Gilbert's has delicious classic Cuban pastries, from Pastelito de Carne to guayava y queso all with this sugary coating on the top. What is brilliant is that they also have vegan/veggie options to their pasteltos and croquetas! I would always recommend this bakery, but the service is sometimes not so friendly. During my last visit I called a few hours before my visit to ask about their Guava and cheesecake $30) and whether they had any in the store. They said they had several by 6:00. I'm only here after 6:00, to wait 40 minutes until a cake is ready. The employees seemed disturbed that I waited for it almost as if I rushed them to complete them. In addition, the cake itself was delicious, very humid and tasteful with the right amount of Guava and cheese. I also bought a pre-arranged plate of bocaditos, pasteltos and sandwiches for $25 and vegan croquetas and pasteltos. Overall, there might be around $65. I will come back, but know that the ladies who work this place are not too friendly.
