Contribute FeedbackChampetre, a charming French restaurant in Manila, received mixed reviews. Some diners were disappointed due to unavailability and closure of the restaurant, mixed up orders, and relatively high prices. However, others raved about the authentic French cuisine, extensive wine list, generous portions, and excellent service provided by Chef Marc Aubrey. Many loyal customers praised the quality of food for delivery and takeout during the quarantine. Overall, Champetre remains a favorite dining spot for those craving European flavors and a cozy, friendly atmosphere in the heart of BGC.
Standards continue to be maintained at the highest level. With French owner/chef the food is the most authentic French in Manila. Good wine list, excellent attentive service and very pleasant environment make for a great dining experience. Portions are very generous.
Ate dinner on a Saturday evening. Restaurant was at one-fourth capacity but seating more customers as we departed. Service was plentiful and prompt. Air conditioning was lacking, almost to the point of of uncomfortableness. Prices were reasonable for some items on the menu but appeared slightly overpriced for others. The grilled lamb loin topped with black olive tapenade and goat cheese puree with cauliflower was very good (I'd come back just for that). Also, the braised chicken coq-au-vin was good - very tender. A customer at a nearby table ordered a risotto with prawns dish that was off-menu that looked very good (must have been as the customer devoured the entire dish!). I"ll probably try the place again.
Food was okay. Desserts are ok as well. But then the ambiance made me more sad, suddenly missed my wife. Will go back here in better circumstances.
We have been to Champêtre many times but for some reasons, have been there for over year. It was a pleasure revising a classic again. Chef Marc Aubry is the master of classic french cuisine. His Foie gras, duck and goose, were of high quality. Duck confit was done perfectly the classic way. No fancy plate decoration here, only focus on the main product. The veal with morels cream sauce was another of those dishes from the past but it tasted so good I wanted to ask for more morels! Desserts are like the rest: classic, simple but well executed and delicious. Service is efficient, discreet.
I recommend that place, the food is excellent , a nice selection of wine. If you want to taste french cuisine.
