What Julia V doesn't like about Little Tokyo Veterans:
Quick service and a wide sushi selection--this little hole in the wall offers all the rolls and bento boxes a sushi lover could ask for. We ordered the bento box and a few different salmon and tuna rolls. All of the dishes were mighty fine and I especially liked the rich edamame hummus included in the bento box. View all feedback.
Fast service and an extensive sushi menu—this cozy little spot has all the rolls and bento boxes any sushi enthusiast could desire. We tried the bento box along with several salmon and tuna rolls. Every dish was delicious, and I particularly enjoyed the creamy edamame hummus that came with the bento box.
After some flight delays, we touched down in New Orleans and unfortunately, the first couple of choices were already closed, so we ended up at Izakaya Little Tokyo Restaurant. Overall, it was friendly service and the server even came by several times to check on us. I ordered the Bento Box #1 with salad. The salad was just okay, the hibachi chicken didn't have much flavor to it, and the crab and avocado were standard practice. I forgot that the hummus was edamame hummus. Needless to say, I hadn't acquired the taste, so I did not find that part enjoyable. One definite plus was the crunchy roll. I'm used to crunchy rolls where the fried parts are all over the outside. They put the crunchy parts on the inside so it wasn't overpowering. I found the rolls to be pretty flavorful, too! Glad I ate them last. Would I come back? Maybe in a pinch if convenient.
Best sushi in the city of New Orleans Excellent service This place never ever disappoints
My outing with seven friends for sushi and noodles was a mix of highs and lows. The sushi and noodles were absolutely top-notch—fresh, flavorful, and a real treat for the senses. However, the chicken wings were a letdown. They arrived late, appeared unappetizing, and smelled of stale oil, indicating poor preparation. Unfortunately, our experience was further marred by the service from our waitress, Jennifer. Her difficulty in maintaining open communication, apparent biases against her Chinese supervisors, and reluctance to address the issues with the chicken wings detracted from our overall enjoyment. The restaurant really needs to tackle these service and cultural sensitivity problems as a matter of priority.
