Legacy Kitchen - Metairie

I often have lunch with my mom at Legacy, and it's worth noting that she's quite a discerning customer! Remarkably, she orders straight from the menu without any special requests, enjoying the dishes exactly as they come. That’s a big deal for her! When I'm looking for something light and healthy, I opt for the Tuna Tango salad. And let me tell you, "light and healthy" does not mean flavorless or bland here. This dish is vibrant, packed with flavor, and tastes incredibly fresh. On the other hand, when I crave comfort food, I go for the burger. It’s so juicy, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious! I truly appreciate a good burger, and this one is definitely among the best in the metro area. When I have lunch with my husband, we usually start with the salmon dip served with toast points. If you're a fan of smoked salmon, do yourself a favor and try this dip. I doubt you’ll be disappointed! The servers are always courteous and attentive, and the atmosphere feels business casual yet comfortable. I've dined here in formal business attire as well as dressed down in nice shorts, and I've never felt out of place.

Now, let's talk about the food. I ordered the chargrilled oysters and, having tried many, I view Acme Oyster House's version as the gold standard. I was pleasantly surprised to find that these oysters were the closest I've experienced to theirs. They were rich, buttery, cheesy, and bubbly—everything I love about Acme's offerings. The overall flavor was reminiscent of theirs, in my opinion. I also learned they have $1 oyster Thursdays, so I plan to return and indulge in about 2,067 oysters then! My friend ordered the flame-grilled redfish. She mentioned that while the fish was cooked nicely, it lacked flavor. However, she enjoyed the crawfish cornbread, which had a unique twist and resembled Thanksgiving dressing! As for my Cosmopolitan, it was just okay. My waiter was fantastic—he had a great attitude and was very honest about his favorites and least favorites on the menu. I truly appreciate wait staff who keep it real, though I regret not catching his name. Overall, I would rate this a solid 4.5 stars due to the bland fish, but I might bump it up to 5 stars depending on my next visit. LOL!

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. We arrived around 12:30 for lunch with a group of five and started with a glass of wine, two Cokes, water, and the truffle chips with blue cheese. For our main courses, we ordered broasted chicken with grilled Brussels sprouts, salmon, and a club sandwich. Unfortunately, the chicken was extremely dry and inedible, and the Brussels sprouts were hard and unappetizing—something we've never encountered before. They appeared overcooked (see attached picture). Our total for lunch was $100 for five, totaling $120 with the tip, which I felt was not worth it. I would recommend trying a different place.

To my server, Jasmine- girl! You are the BEST! With so many opinions of deliciousness on Yelp, and being wishy washy about what I wanted, having a severe like Jasmine guide you to the best choices makes all the difference in the world! She even steered me away from the blue-cheese-truffle chips (I know, Yelpers, that's near blasphemy-but she was concerned that it's such a large portion, and it was just little old me tonight . 5 starts just for you, Jasmine!! You rock! Now, on to the food: The loaded potato soup is rich and creamy without being overly sticky or milky. It tastes like a roasted potatoes, with good chicken stock base, and just enough rosemary to make you think a hunk of rump roast beef should soon be following. Delightful! I have a feeling if the potato soup is this good, that the turtle soup is outstanding. (Will have to come back to try that next time! The kale caesar is THE BOMB, y'all. I've love LOVE that they de-ribbed the kale before including it- so that the crunch comes from the romaine hearts and croutons, and not the bitter stalks of kale. Peppery caesar dressing, perfectly sauced. I'd come back just for this salad again, sooo good! Thank you, Yelp, for another great new favorite place outside the Crescent City. Five stars all the way!

This is a solid place for lunch or dinner. They do have a lovely breakfast on the weekends. I have been here on several occasions now and can confidently say that I really like it. It's not my absolute favorite, but it's solid. The building looks like it used to be a diner of some sort, but once you walk inside, it is on the fancier side of casual. Breakfast seems to be more laid back, but dinner they dim the lights. The music is a bit too loud at dinner time for my tastes, but it is decent popular rock and roll. The lights are neat. Brown metal chandelier that has a basket missing slats around it. The restroom is neat, clean and has plenty of hygiene items. The parking in front is limited, but endless parking in the back. Now onto the food. I have had the burger, the cheeseburger, fish, the Maui zowie chicken sandwich, the basic breakfast. None of it has let me down. All of it was well worth the price. I brought my parents a few days before my father's birthday, and they brought out chocolate cake with a candle and sang to him! I am impressed and the parents were happy. I have also had the icebox lemon pie, and that was wonderful. I look forward to coming back!
