The hotel is very dated, and the bathrooms need updating, and the rooms really need an overhaul. But the location of the hotel is super. The staff were really nice and made us feel welcome. The vet small pool is ice cold, so we swam in the sea every day, which is fabulous. You're surrounded by fish, and the temperature is lovely. It's an hiya walk from Sorrento so if you don't catch the bus the walk is nice. There is... View all feedback.
What Caitlin Murray doesn't like about Mar Alimuri:
The hotel was tired, and the beach was covered in cigarette butts. The staff were incredibly personal, especially the female bartender. The atmosphere was lacklustre and boring. During our stay, we had learnt from another guest about a mother and daughter who were drugged and gang grapes by members of Alimuri staff in 2018, and we couldn’t help but feel a sour and seedy note overshadowed our holiday. Whilst a previous experience shouldn’t mar the hotel and its current workers, I feel like future guests should be aware of this before making a booking. It's an hiya walk from Sorrento so if you don't catch the bus the walk is nice. There is a hotel bus and a local bus. There is small store close by and a little bar and restaurant. The food was very good and the assortment was very good. Service: 4
Obviously, this hotel was in the past 4-5star luxury , but now sadly a little tired. Most staff were very helpful , kind, and friendly , but others obviously were suffering from tiredness as our visit was late in the season. Some of the advertised facilities were unavailable, so check if you want a spa hotel as the Spa is closed. Rooms: 3 Service: 4 Location: 3 Hotel highlights: Great view
First appearances give the illusion that this is a grand hotel. Beautiful sea views, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Clean throughout. The best hotel staff who can’t do enough for you. Super efficient shuttle bus. Maid service everyday, including Sundays. Complimentary bathroom minis were always restocked. Free Beach/pool towels available everyday. But after the first day, the cracks began to show for us. You’re at the bottom of a mountain, which was fine for us but the less able-bodied might struggle. You’re limited to just 4 restaurants, one being the hotel itself, with awkward opening times for dinner (most don’t serve till 7/7:30pm). Breakfast was ok, self-serve buffet style with basic food. Pastries went down well. We didn’t bother eating at the hotel after the first day, preferring to travel via the free shuttle bus from the hotel into Sorrento for breakfast or dinner. A shop is located about a 10/15 minute walk away, but again awkward opening times (8-10am or 4-8pm) Spa and indoor pool were not available. Closed for refurbishment and meant to be temporary. Which isn’t ideal when travelling with a child and it rained for 2days of our stay with choppy seas. Outdoor pool is very small. Private beach isn’t very private. The local kids came after school everyday around 5pm and took up most of the room. And the locals generally use the beach throughout the day but do tend to leave the Sun loungers. We did have an enjoyable stay. The lack of decent food is the biggest let down. We wouldn’t return to this particular hotel. But would stay somewhere more central in future as Sorrento is beautiful. Long way out from centre and shuttle only had a few seats that you had to reserve in the morning. If you were too late you couldn't go in till later. Rooms definitely not sound proof, and asked for safe to be fixed but wasn't done. Food drinks: Buffet style but always cold and not a great selection . Dessert were awful.
