Gourmet Burger Kitchen Wimbledon

GBK is one of my family's go to restaurants well it certainly was prior to Covid times. This was our first visit since Covid and sadly things have gone significantly downhill. Kids meals especially are nowhere near as good. Previously these came with the option of a glass bottle of Coke/Diet Coke but this has now been replaced with a teeny carton of Cawston Press a ridiculous change. Also the burgers no longer come with any salad just a patty on the bun and some sauce. So bland that my daughter left hers. My other daughter's chicken burger had no lettuce on either so just some chicken on a bun with some mayo. Previously they adored the kids meals but these were a serious let down. The adults burgers were tasty but they are expensive, given you have to order fries separately. The best bit about the meal was the salted caramel milkshake. It was thick and very tasty. One of the best around. Sadly, I doubt my family will be returning to GBK anytime soon. Their ridiculous skimping to try and save a few pennies will chase away customers.

I ordered a takeaway vegan burger. Service was average to slow and the burger was OK but by no means the best I've eaten.

I just ordered on Deliveroo. It took an hour and still said preparing. Rang the restaurant who said no driver, food was getting cold ring Deliveroo and they’d re cook. Ok great. Rang Deliveroo booked a driver, rang restaurant who then said ‘no food is fine we won’t re do it’. It arrive about 5 mins later barely warm. So having waited an hour, thanks to your staff not wanting to re do it I now have my burger in the oven to get it to an acceptable heat to eat it. Cheers for ruining my dinner. And don’t worry I’ve complained to Deliveroo also as between you both you’ve done a terrible job.

Unfortunately they have closed several GBK branches but the one in Wimbledon remains and the burgers are excellent. I like mine medium rare and they are cooked just right. The prices are reasonable too. Flip 'n ' Dip was my favourite burger place in London, but they have closed down. Shame.
