And second, it was Merida Restaurant Week, so maybe they were a bit overwhelmed. But still, the service was mediocre at best. We had to continually ask for things that should have been taken care of by the service staff as a routine. Restaurant week brings many new potential clients into the restaurants here, and it is a mystery to me why so many restaurants fail to put their best foot forward. I think the end result is the loss of new clients. The food was unremarkable, but inoffensive. The Caesar salad was a rather weak attempt at the real thing. The lasagna was OK, but it had been in a warming zone a bit too long. The pork loin was quite overcooked and very dry - not at all impressive. The ice cream - well, it had a very long way to go to meet Italian standards, but that is true of most ice cream in Mexico. Hopefully this was just a matter of the restaurant not doing well with the special week, and we will likely try this restaurant again, since it is in our neighborhood, but it is unlikely to become a habit!
