Mercer Island has its own version of a dive bar, and it's a fantastic spot. The service is outstanding, the food is excellent—especially the burgers, which are among the best I've had at a bar—and the drinks are also noteworthy. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Roanoke Inn:
This is a laid-back place favored by the locals. I visited Mercer a few times, and I found it odd when the owner shared a story with me. They mentioned that nasal rings are not permitted (I have a septum piercing). The owner recounted an incident where a waitress had a lower back tattoo, and a regular customer noticed it and made a big deal about it, to the point that the police were called. Nice place with a large terrace. It was very friendly and the fish and chips were great.
Came in here with a few friends for early dinner on Monday when they weren?t that busy. We all ordered burgers, and the server asked us about how we?d like it to be cooked. I was excited because when they usually ask, they care for ?. I ordered mine in medium rare, but when our food arrived, all of our burgers were pretty much the same doneness? the patty was so thin, and it was over cooked and dry. Fries were OK. It was pretty disappointed ? and my friends didn?t finish their food. 2 stars as the server was nice, but I don?t think we are coming back.
Lovely setting, with a water view, quite a variety of items on the menu. We tried the burgers, they were well prepared and the fries were good too. Service was great, and food was brought out quickly. Solid restaurant for meeting friends and enjoying a meal. Eat on!
Mushrooms Swiss Cheese hamburger with fries and a side salad. The place was extremely busy. The waitstaff were working very hard.
Not sure why my crew continues to suggest this place. Parking is a pain, several areas within the restaurant are cordoned off so seating for our group was really difficult. The bartender accidentally dropped a bag of tortilla chips and he started slamming things afterward. Our waitress was not the friendly type. Food is just okay. It may be filled with Mercer Island tradition but really not a do-over or worth going out of your way.
