The nice thing about this place is the view, the furniture and the chestnuts. Service is very slow. I am intollerant to gluten and asked for a second without the knödel and made sure that everything else was without flour and yet they brought the meal with the knödel. Since I didn't want to make a fuss about it, i just picked up the parts that didn't touch the knödel. I wouldn't recommend it.
We highly recommend the wine tavern, the friendly staff, and the food. Thank you for everything, and see you soon. Siggi Neiber
Typical Tyrolean cuisine, fully respecting tradition. I tasted an exceptional Grostl, excellently cooked. I haven't tasted it this good for more than 20 years.... Martina also let us taste some excellent crescents filled with wild garlic and ricotta...... exceptional. We concluded with a sublime strudel.
Very good traditional, hearty local food in a charming atmosphere, with equally excellent service. And all this with a phenomenal view of Merano.
The location and the associated distant view, especially from the outdoor tables, are unique. Especially the hiker who has to climb the steep Katzensteinstrasse from Meran, or who wants to take a last break before reaching Meran after a long day of hiking, appreciates the existence of this tavern. The selection of food and drinks is quite diverse. You should definitely dare to try the characterful home-grown wines. They go perfectly with typical South Tyrolean dishes. When the weather is bad, it's also very comfortable inside. The host family is always friendly, attentive and accommodating, no matter how busy they are. You immediately feel comfortable.
