The slices were about an inch and a half... read more This review is strictly about the pizza at Verdi's. If I had to describe it in two words, it would be "Ketchup Bread." The slices were about an inch and a half thick, with only a thin layer of tomato sauce topped generously with cheese. While they certainly didn’t skimp on cheese, their take on a meat lover’s pizza was disappointing—just two pepperoni slices and one piece of sausage on a 4x4 inch square. You’re not really tasting the meat; it’s more like a fleeting hint rather than a full experience. The veggie pizza followed the same pattern, with the thick crust, tomato base, and cheese, plus some green and red peppers and red onions. While peppers and onions are vegetables, this barely qualifies as a true veggie pizza. Many other places offer a wider variety of toppings like spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, artichoke, zucchini, arugula, kale, eggplant, or mushrooms. I’m not saying every pizza needs all of these, but some restaurants go beyond the basics, and that creativity is appreciated. After all, isn’t a menu an opportunity to express personality? Regarding how filling it is, each slice provides a hefty 24 cubic inches of bread, so it’s definitely filling. However, the flavor was underwhelming. The sauce was bland—neither salty, sweet, nor bitter. Compared to Little Caesar’s, those who ate with me, including myself, clearly preferred Little Caesar’s pizza over Verdi's.

The food is consistently fresh and delicious. The pizza is delightful, and the meatball sub was served hot and bursting with flavor. I was in the mood for something sweet, and they had a wide range of options to choose from. I decided on a selection of Italian cookies, and each one was better than the last. They tasted like they were baked that very day. These were undoubtedly the best cookies I've ever had. They must be homemade, as it's clear they use high-quality ingredients. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I can't recommend Verdi's highly enough. Give it a try and spread the word!
