Feedback
The Bishops Table in Wells is a cafe steeped in history, offering a charming location alongside the beautiful Bishops Palace. Recent reviews reveal a mixed experience: while some patrons praise the fresh, homemade food and friendly service, others express disappointment with limited menu options and inconsistencies in food quality. Positive highlights included delicious fish and chips, hearty salads, and tasty toasties, with some guests appreciating the buzzer system for order notifications. However, complaints about slow service, prepackaged items, and a canteen-like atmosphere suggest that the restaurant still has room for improvement to enhance the overall dining experience.
I was very disappointed with this restaurant. There were very limited options for vegans, with the only choice being the Vegan Breakfast which I didn't want for lunch. The person I went with is a vegetarian and was also disappointed with the lack of options, especially since they don't eat eggs. In the end, we settled for a cup of tea and a flapjack, not exactly the satisfying lunch we were hoping for.
Not great, visiting the cafe (as a local) was not a good experience, it was never always great, but now, it's much worse. Whoever thought issuing pagers to collect your orders was a good idea, clearly didn't do their market research (having spoken to quite a few locals with similar opinions). I waited just under 15 mins for a coffee. The cafe had more staff behind the counter? yet, they are trying to save money? no logic at all. Sorry, won't be re-visiting, too much choice in Wells to suffer the pain of this cafe.
We initially stopped for coffee but ended up trying the lunch menu. We were glad we did because my friend and I both had fantastic meals. The veggie toastie with chips and salad was incredibly tasty and well-cooked. My friend loved her quiche as well. We were disappointed that we were too full to try the delicious cakes on display. We will definitely return to this restaurant, we give it a perfect 10 out of 10. We even appreciated the buzzer system they used to notify us when our orders were ready.
Had an amazing lunch today at this restaurant. We enjoyed homemade beer battered cod and chips with a fresh chunky salad, peas, and tartar sauce. The place was bustling even on a Tuesday. It's no surprise though, as Andrew and his new kitchen team are doing a fantastic job. The young front of house team was also very professional. We're excited to hear that table service will be returning soon. It's so nice to see this cafe thriving again after a rough period a few months ago.
Me and my friends came for lunch over the weekend on Sunday . I had a quiche with a salad and slaw. The quiche was great. The salad was big and amazing with lots of vegetables. I had a few nice chunky apple pieces in my salad as well. Whoever made the salad awesome job) . Great lunch ! Thank you for the lovely service !
