**Dining Experience at River Oaks: A Mixed Bag** River Oaks, a Memphis staple, offers a wide array of dining experiences that seem to swing from delightful to disappointing. While many patrons rave about the exceptional food and attentive service, others have faced inconsistent service and lackluster dishes. Standout items include the herb-crusted lamb and elk ribs, praised for their flavor and tenderness. Unfortunately, some diners noted issues with specific meals, such as overcooked shrimp and bland beignets. Overall, River Oaks is best suited for special occasions, but potential diners should be mindful of varying experiences regarding service and food quality.
We celebrated our daughter's high school graduation at the restaurant and had a wonderful experience. Our server, Mary Beth, was attentive, cheerful, and very helpful. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Since we were a party of nine, we were seated in a cozy alcove, which made for a quieter atmosphere.
Wonderful dinner and experience. Already planning a trip back. Salad with farro and basil was such a surprise. Can't wait to have it again. Fish special was perfect with every bite!
As expected, dining at Chef José’s was outstanding, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was just perfect. When we arrived, it was nearly full, but despite the crowd, once we were seated, it felt like we were in our own little corner of the world. I can't wait to return!
Best dinner I?ve had in a long time! Salmon was excellent! My husband had the short ribs, they were great! Salad dessert was excellent! Chef took the time to speak to us. Would definitely recommend this place! Our server guided us through a great meal.
Second time eating here, always fantastic service, great atmosphere and delicious and beautifully plated foods. We had my mothers 75th birthday here and we brought our one cake. The restaurant staff also bright the cake out with the candles webrought lit, after blowing out the candles they took the cake to the kitchen sliced and plated it and it was a fantasticexperience! We enjoyed several bottles of wine, appetizers and exceptional main courses!
