Was Anonym at Ruyi a mag?
This distinctive Chinese restaurant is situated just a block away from Rydges Hotel in the CBD. While it is often referred to as modern Chinese, this label doesn't quite capture its true essence. View all feedback.
What Brandy Rau dislikes about Ruyi:
It is not authentic Chinese cuisine, as much as they said it was. There were 2 sittings..so we had to go to a Bar across the road before our table was available. The restaurant is very small, but I had to go to the Bar to ask if Table Service or Order at the Bar ? So obviously service was very poor. Overrated. View all feedback.

This restaurant offers some standout dishes like kingfish ceviche, lettuce cups, and tofu, all served with excellent service in a stylish, inviting atmosphere. Overall, it's a fantastic dining experience.
The restaurant has a small, cozy atmosphere with lots of natural light. The staff is attentive and the food is delicious (the silken tofu is especially good!). Overall, it's a great dining experience. It may be a bit quiet, so turning up the music a bit could add to the ambiance, but it's definitely a more relaxed atmosphere compared to louder and more chaotic restaurants.
The service was incredible, all the staff were very helpful, kind and accomodating. Food and cocktails were delicious. Standout dishes were definitely the chilli wontons, wasabi and honey chicken, shao long bao and kingfish ceviche. Will definitely be back.
My boyfriend dined around Christmas time and sent me here to experience his ‘one of the best dining experience in Melbourne’. I had an 8 course, the food was so yummy and we also picked a bottle of Riesling to go with our food, perfect match especially with the ceviche and potato prawns. Our server, Adrian was very helpful and friendly. Really nice experience.

There are many restaurants in the area, we needed to pick one for dinner before our 8 o’clock show. A friend of mine recommended RuYi, after reading all the reviews we decided to have a go. What a great experience! Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the service staff who were so friendly. They helped us through the menu and recommended several dishes and especially ones which were best paired with wines. The food was delicious. Great recommendations. The mouth-watering numbing beef went perfectly with a glass of pinot noir. We also had some chardonnay paired with the kingfish ceviche which was a nice match. For mains we had the steamed barramundi which was cooked to perfection. A memorable dinner experience.
Picked RuYi for our company’s work function this year. The 8 course dinner was sensational! Every dish had a unique and flavourful ring to it and was amazing. The subtle ceviche, succulent numbing beef and peking duck pancakes really stood out among the small dishes. The slow cooked duck main dish was hearty and we finished off with a nice creme brulee dessert. We chose some Italian Pinot Grigio, some Aussie Chardonnay and some Victoria Pinot noir for the evening to match different courses. Even the pickiest wine connoisseur on the table was happy with the wine quality and value. Thanks to all the floor staff who hosted our function, we will be back soon.
We were here to have dinner before watching the show at the comedy theatre. Loved the peking duck cones. We pretty much ordered only tapas with wine and they were all amazing. The bao bao, ceviche and shao long bao were so yummy. Service was great too and very knowledgable. I am quite choosy of what I eat so they helped me by describing the dishes and recommended some great ones. The vibe was calm and peaceful and we loved it! Highly recommend for pre or after theatre dining.
RuYi never disappointed us. We have been here a few times. The food always great. We noticed they have added a few new items like the ceviche and potato stir fry which were amazing. I kinda miss the garlic broccoli but they've got a new chinese broccoli which is just as good. We've tried almost all of the cocktails before so it was nice to try some new ones. The lychee and also the kumquat cocktails will surely be everyone’s favourites soon. The service is ever top notch, informative, friendly and makes you feel relaxed. Thats why I keep coming back and will be back soon again.
Had dinner at RuYi the day after Australian day. The vibe is calm cozy and elegant, service was attentive and friendly. They gave good recommendations about food and drinks. It was our first time so we had no clue what to order and they were so helpful. We had their premium wagyu beef and omg it was out of this world. The meat, mushrooms and black truffle sprinkled on top just made my day. Its a dish fit for royalty. We topped that off with some red wine and it was one of the best dining sessions in the CBD we ever had!
