What Anonym dislikes about Ides:
I and my friends were thrilled to dinate in ides, with taking out a hadd restaurants, as it was highly recommended by friends and online resources. the beginning of the service was top-notch, as on the day when we feed, it was a hot day, we. gave a cold tee to begin on our assigned round table near the beginning and while we cooled down with the tee, a very friendly male staff let the leather menu the leather round t... Every course presented was interesting, fun and most importantly full of flavour. The homemade butter was just divine. I would buy a jar of it to take home. Service was friendly and attentive, but not over the top.A lot of care and attention by the team to ensure a truly enjoyable experience. Will definitely be back again! A certain attention to detail, to their food, their craft, the way they treat you and your experience, left us completely in love with Ides. We had the 12-course degustation menu, which is really a journey and it sings and dances for you; highly recommend. Also, the sommelier’s recommendations to the wine list were equally great. Went for the steak night on a Wednesday, great deal to offset the high price of drinks. The steak was cooked perfectly with amazing flavours and a slightly hint of charcoal coming through. The chips seasoned well and crispy while the asparagus was cooked to perfection and really popped with the addition of the cheese. We also got the fried Quail which was a banger. Great ambience at the venue.. separate bar and dining area and private dining room you can have a peek at on the way to the dining table. Service was confusing. Drinks service took longer than I expected as they took ages to check back on our decision on first drinks. Yes of course we were talking but surely not minded to have our drinks order taken.? We finally ordered a round of cocktails/beer for the first round and two bottles of wine (each over $300 and $160) over the course of dinner; only 2 of us out of 4 drank wine. Wine service was okay until the first bottle of wine finished but it got lost in the second bottle of wine they kept trying to clean our empty wine glasses when we had a half full bottle of wine sitting at the waiter station. If you are not going to be vigilant in topping up wine, just leave it on tables so guests don’t have to remind staff that they still have their wine left? The sommelier looking guy (without the jacket) didn’t give much care on our table. I didn’t see any aspect of 5 star service from him no table engagement at all, no recommendation or suggestions on anything, just ‘drop and go’ style service. Yet you missed our wine top up Food was really small in portion. Except for lamb everything was a degustation course size; their normal course is 4 courses (couple of them with a complement dish). We added 2 extra dishes from addition menu but unfortunately left rather hungry not full. Every dish was tasty but it is a shame that after spending $190+pp only for food still feeling hungry. And the first dish (asparagus tart).. It was tasty but soggy on tart base. Probably because it was left on table on arrival must have been planned as a part of experience as people would want to have a look at the mystery box but tart went soggy after long wait of drinks order as said above. No one bothered to explained what the box was for so we waited for the instruction, which it was given finally. All in all, we spent $1400 for 4 guests (plus tips). Was it worth it? Not sure. Would I rush back to the place? Probably not. Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
Our preordered drinks on arrival were not served. We had to remind them after we were seated at the bar. The food was delicious, however portion sizes quite small. The black box dessert was fun and worth preordering. I felt the male staff that served us could have been more engaging. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
Incredibly disappointing experience considering what we paid. I do recommend visiting at all. I didn’t find the service even remotely close to what would be expected at a restaurant like this. The waiters were cold and didn’t make much of an effort when they did I honestly just felt uncomfortable. We had both asked for sparking water and the waiter couldn’t even get that right, serving still and then back to sparkling no apologies. Did they think we didn’t notice?? The 7 course meal was served within one hour and 15 minutes so naturally, it was not an enjoyable experience. After dessert, we felt immediately rushed out, being handed the bill without asking. We would have liked to enjoy another drink. Nope, $500 spent on a one and a half hour awkward experience. May I note that it was the last booking of the night so no seating afterwards. I guess they just wanted to go home. The atmosphere of the restaurant didn’t help either. The whole vibe was just awkward really. The only good thing I can really speak of is the food, but it is absolutely not worth it. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$200+ Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Loved the set menu and wine pairing! Really great experience. Ambience of the place was great too, dark and mysterious.
Managed to get a last minute reservation here thankfully it isn't completely booked out on a Sunday night. The food, service and wine were all super nice. We didn't get all of the courses, however, it was still super filling. Each course packed plenty of flavour and the dessert was fun to unpack. Definitely recommend giving this place a go!
IDES is baby to former Attica sous chef Peter Gunn and personally, it ranks higher than Attica in my books. We had originally booked for the 4 course menu but I changed my mind last minute which fortunately, they were able to accomodate. The menu began with some salted mushrooms hidden within some rocks followed by a feast of snacks. Each snack was different in texture, taste and origin yet all tied beautifully together. Following on were 4 mains, 2 desserts and petit four to finish. Throughout the night, service was attentive, friendly and seamless. Food was always served by two waiters simultaneously, table was cleaned between courses, all the little things that are often dropped and dismissed. I also want to mention that each person that came to the table had the same welcoming smile and vibe. Overall a great night and the highlights were the peanut butter, scallops, fried chicken, ox tail broth, fish and the adorable anniversary gift at the end. 10/10 restaurant in my books. Highly recommended!
Really enjoyed my sample menu experience in IDES. The sample menu is where the chef “tries out” dishes to see if they should put it in the perm menu I believe, and it’s slightly cheaper at $80 pp. We also got one wine matching $80 and one non-alcohol matching. The matching are both impressive, but I really enjoyed the non-alco version better.<br/ <br/ We started off w the yummiest bread w peanut butter butter. It was so good we were tempted to have another. But we resisted as we have plenty of food coming.<br/ <br/ The four courses was really a highlight, starting off with a celerairc vegetarian course, moving onto a chargrilled fish which was beautifully cooked. We were less impressed with the pork chop, it was a bit fatty, salty and a touch overcooked. The dessert was a blueberry meringue. I don’t normally like meringue but this is a steamed meringue and it was amazingly delish. The nuts added a bit of a crunchy texture and there is a bit of salt in it to balance the sweetness.<br/ <br/ We also had a few of their dishes that are on special: their oyster $8 each), snapper wing $20) and cos lettuce $8 each) are all very delicious but the prices are quite steep.<br/ <br/ Overall we really enjoyed the experience and I would love to go back for the four course menu because I want to try their Black Box dessert!

We had a great night. It was to celebrate my daughter's engagement. The staff made it a night to remember.
Food was delicious. Staff were fantastic. But because my guests and I haven’t meet in a long time so we’re talking more than eating. I guess the staff didn’t know we haven’t finished eating and tried to clear our food. In the beginning felt abit hurried. Other than that it was brilliant! Much better than expected! Food was fantastic.
Overall is good and fun restaurant to dining with????. The service is good but some staff need to improve a bit service.

This restaurant was a great find! The staff was super friendly and the service was excellent, even the foods are very delicious and ingenious! Definitely recommend!
We had a great time here for my husband’s birthday. Service was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Food was offbeat in the best possible way, and portions generous given the number of dishes. We did the alcoholic matchings too. Worth it.
