What Isabella Ekström dislikes about Abla's:
It is rather sad when a place that has been a Melbourne institution just does not cut it anymore. Abla's might have been exotic in the but it need to do a bit better than that nowadays. The Tabboulleh was sadly soggy, the kebabs...pleasant enough but nothing special. At least the Baklava was quite pleasant. The service was very good- at least one thing was very good. Had a wonderful dinner at Abla’s! The food was absolutely delicious—hearty, homely, and full of flavour. There was a great variety of dishes, including plenty of gluten-free options, which made it easy to find something for everyone. The service was warm, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comforting cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere. One of the most delicious and homely dining experiences we've had! It was such a treat having Abla come by and chat to us, and being able to take her recipe book home with us. Clearly a very hospitable and generous family, and the food rivals that of the best fine dining restaurants in Australia.

Abla's is a Lebanese restaurant; it is decorated in shades of grey; it's an intimate setting. The staff are young and enthusiastic, they were happy to explain the menu and waited while we made our selections. Apart from our main courses, we had a selection...of dips with flat bread, including hummus and baba gonoush, which were delicious. We selected stuffed cabbage rolls and lamb kofta. The rice with chicken was our favourite; simple, but tasty.. I ordered a Rochford pinot noir, which can be recommended. To conclude, we had cardamon coffee, a Lebanese specialty. In all, we departed well satisfied with our meal.
I’m so angry ………….. angry that I did not dine here previously! I can’t believe it took my so long to try this place out ! Fresh , delicious, filling portions , great variety and friendly service .
We were people for dinner and ordered Banquette ,expecting great food and plenty meat. after we had our food we were so disappointed. We received some cheap Libanese round bread, some mezza, and as main only one small skewer of kebab and some rice with...cinnamon and avery very thin layer of chicken on top. and we paid per person. What a Waste of money. We get much much better value for somewhere else. I am talking about being expensive,We expect to pay for Banquette, but we expect to get more food for it as well, and not rice and maybe meat. the round table was stable and table top was unstable and very small. We had to put our wine bottle etc.. on the ground to make space for some other food arriving. The taste was OK. service was good.

Out to dinner and the table was so small the water and wine had to be placed on the floor. Disappointing as there were other tables unused . If you go make sure the table is large enough especially if you are sharing dishes...as we had to hurry to finish dishes as the next ones came out. There was no room on the table
