My favorite pub in Mechelen. Not just for the Guinness, but also for the great ambience. It may be a bit dark for the Belgian people, but I love the music and all the mementos of the celebrities. Right at the heart of the city of Mechelen. The food is great too! View all feedback.
Dinner was super hot. We had to wait 40 minutes, but it was worth the wait. Very kind servant!
Great food, good drinks, looove the hot wiskey and Irish coffee and great folks! We just keep coming back, feels like home :
Deliciously simple and still good. Friendly service and supersympathetic cook. I'll definitely come back.
Very cool, friendly service, and... The best hot chocolate I've ever had, and then prefer whipped cream. Also, the beers aren't too...
Rude obnoxious barman. I am a foreigner and this was my first visit (arrived that day) to Belguim/Mechelen/O'Fiach's. Well so much for Irish hospitality and warmth. I ordered my beer and sat at the bar ready to watch the football. I took a sip of beer and barman returned with EFTPOS machine for payment. I replied that i only had cash. My credit card was safely and securely locked away in my hotel room. Barman looked at me as though i was mad or was trying it on (to get free beer). After some unpleasant exchanges the beer was taken away and i was shown the door. Disgraceful and so unwelcoming. I was made to feel i was in the wrong. I have visited literally thousands of bars in my lifetime and this is the first to refuse cash. Maybe its common in Belgium but not in any of the other 70 countries i have visited. Bottom line (which i only thought about afterwards) was the barman or friendly regular could have used their card and i could have given them cash. Am sure that this is not the first or last time that this has happened. The beer was poured down the drain. Unfriendly idiots (definitely not Irish). Further, payment by means of cash (banknotes and coins, denominated in euro) cannot be refused in Belgium on the basis of the status of cash as legal tender (Art. 10 and 11 Council Resolution No 974/98 of 3 May 1998 on the introduction of the euro).
