Waffle House - Mechanicsville

Unfortunately, the restaurant was understaffed during a busy period. There was nobody available to clean tables, so customers had to sit at dirty ones until someone could finally clear and clean them. The food arrived in a timely manner, but the overwhelmed waitress was unable to check if we needed anything else.

I really enjoy a good waffle house, but this one was a disappointment. The first time I went, the cook was arguing with security, and because there was no waiter, there was no service. After the weekend, there was a cook, a waiter, and security, so things started to improve. When I finally got a waiter, they were in a rush and needed a break, but still took my order. When I ordered for 5 people, the cook only prepared half of the order. The waiter lost my ticket, and I ended up waiting 2 hours for my lunch. I finally got my food, ate, paid, and left. It was definitely not a pleasant experience.

The food was cooked well and served in generous portions. The staff was friendly. However, the bathroom was only partially functional. The restaurant appears to be quite old and could benefit from a major renovation. The space could also use a thorough cleaning.

This is the dirtiest and most unfriendly location out of all the Waffle Houses I have visited.

The two women who work at the Mechanicsville location in the evenings (cook and waitress) are fantastic! Whenever my granddaughter spends the day with me, she always wants to go to Waffle House, specifically the Mechanicsville location, and I agree! We usually go for dinner but order breakfast items. The service is fast and the staff always has a smile on their face. The waitress makes an effort to engage with customers and is very friendly. The restaurant is clean and we always order the same dishes: I get scrambled eggs (a little runny), grits, toast, and extra crispy bacon, while my granddaughter gets chocolate chip waffles with extra crispy bacon. The food is always prepared exactly as requested and is delicious! I was not impressed with the Ashland location and will not be returning there.
