What Bob V doesn't like about After The Fox:
The positives: on the river, easy parking, staff friendly, some of the food tasty, reasonably priced! The negatives: a bit tired looking and the coleslaw was marginal at best. Just a thought, get a broom and sweep away the spiders and webs on the deck. View all feedback. What Cheyanne Labadie likes about After The Fox:
Just when we thought Brunch was fashionable, we found one on Sunday morning along the river in McHenry. Looks like a tiny place from outside, but when you go into it, it is shocking how deep the rooms are and a direct view of the river. All our favorites were served on the Brunch Egg Benedict, biscuits and Gravy, scrambled eggs. They served excellent pork sausage and freshly cut ham. Fresh fruit and coffee cakes and... read moreA cozy riverfront restaurant offers tasty food at reasonable prices, with friendly staff and easy parking. However, some dishes fall short, like the cod and coleslaw. Wheelchair accessibility and extra charges for condiments were also concerns raised by patrons. Despite the minor setbacks, the Sunday brunch by the river is a hit, with fresh food and a lovely view. Regulars appreciate the excellent food, especially the fish fry and daily specials, but sometimes have to endure long waits due to the popularity of the place. Overall, a hidden gem for delicious meals in a bustling atmosphere.
Great views and atmosphere. Usually grab a Sandwich at the bar. Cold beer, boat piers. Rustic! One of our favs!
