What Karlee Brakus doesn't like about La Cantinette:
We visited as we saw a photo of Buratta cheese on a TA review and couldn't resist. The cheese and spec starter (16 euro) was easily enough for 2 and well worth the visit. The problem was really with the main courses, we wanted to keep it simple so had pasta dishes with pesto, in the end we don't really think that pasta, a spoonful of homemade pasta and a few shavings of cheese is worth 13 euro. An amazing simple Italian restaurant with such a cool vibe going on , we're coming back especially for
Had a wonderful swordfish carpaccio This was followed by a homemade pappardelle with a spicy tomato and cheese.
Great Italian food away from the tourist areaWe had no reservation but arrived early and the owner/manager was kind and jovial.
Had a very nice lunch here. Nice neighborhood Italian restaurant. Very nice waitress. Didn't speak English but she was fine with us not speaking French very well. We worked it out. Had veal Parmesan, which you don't find in many restaurants in France serving Italian food. Nice red Italian wine too. Didn't try the pasta so hard to rate the place but if it is as good as the veal Parmesan I probably would up the rating to a five. Regardless, if I lived here they'd see me regularly.
We have been there after a long day of walking through Marseille. We got a warm welcome and an excellent service there. Food was also good. We had Bruschetta as appetizers and afterwards grilled tuna, Pâtes St. Jaques, Burger Maison. Except the Pâtes Pesto could be a bit more "intensive".
