Best experience I had in my life! the service was on point eating amazing. had a great time and I'm sure I'm back!

We had a reservation for Ling Ling for New Years Eve and as a surprise for my partners birthday. I was not aware that the restaurant had a set menu until 24 hours before when they contacted me to confirm and was told the set menu for 2 people would be £500! I was unable to reserve a table anywhere else so I had to confirm. I confirmed by email as I was asked to but when we arrived we were told the table had not been reserved because I hadn’t replied even though I had received a reply from my confirmation? We had travelled for 40min to the restaurant so by this time I was really upset. They managed to sort a table out but sat us in the middle of a wedding party which was slightly uncomfortable. I cannot fault the food, it was amazing and our waiter was great but the service I received from the reservation team I thought could be tightened up a little. It really disappointed me the amount of money we spent that evening to not receive a 5* service like the Manderin Oriental Hotel is.
Went for an early dinner with my family of four, including 2 kids under 5. Food was incredible and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Great experience all around!
The food was very good as well as table service. However, there was a huge problem with our booking and part of the staff, whose attitude was unacceptable. We arrived at 10pm for our 10:30pm reservation and indicated that we would be waiting at another bar within the hotel since we were early. We came back to the restaurant at 10:50pm but the staff told us our table was not ready and offered us to wait for at least 20 minutes at the restaurant's bar, which had no available seating. After we expressed our dissatisfaction regarding this alternative and summoned the manager, and after waiting another 15 minutes, the staff offered us to sit at a very large 7-8 guest table which was obviously unfit for our party of 4, especially in a noisy restaurant like ling ling. We expressed our dissatisfaction once again, and this time, one of the staff members started to be very aggressive and rude and had to be calmed down by one of her colleagues. A second and more comprehensive staff member acknowledged their seating offer was not acceptable and finally found us another table. We were seated around 11:30pm, an hour after our booking. Worth mentionning, another party of four had ordered their dinner before heading to the same other hotel bar and were seated before us although they came back to the restaurant after us. We should have done the same but ordering in advance was not offered to us. After our bad experience to get our table, we expected some kind of compensation that never came. Ling Ling should ensure it can manage reservation times and train part of their staff so that they understand that customers are entitled to have a decent table at the time of their reservation. They should also ensure their staff is not rude to customers that rightfully express their dissatisfaction towards unacceptable experiences.
