Pavilion Beachfront - Maroubra

I’ve been to the Pavilion a couple of times and the atmosphere is nice. It has great ocean views, and we were lucky enough to see some whales swimming by and breaching. Parking, because of its location, was difficult. Unfortunately, the first time I went, the man I think is the manager, was watching us intently when he noticed my grandchildren and the note on the back of the menu cautioned customers to ensure their children behaved, which is not always possible. My grandchildren sat there quietly and did not misbehave but he didn’t smile at them at all. He then came out and said in an abrupt manner that they were closing soon and if we wanted coffee, to order it straight away and to pay the bill as soon as possible. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and took some interstate visitors there a couple of weeks later. It was busy but we were seated at 10:50 am. When my friends placed their order the waiter came back 10 minutes later and advised that they had run out of chocolate cake and only apple pie was available. Just before 12:00 midday the manager told us that unfortunately our table had been reserved for 12:00 and that he told the people with the booking to come back in 10 minutes and if we didn't mind could we please hurry up. We were very upset because it killed our enjoyment. On arrival, he could have told us that the table had been booked and we could have made the decision to stay or go. The manager’s customer service skills are very poor and I think it will turn some customers away. He should stay in the kitchen away from customers. The staff though were very efficient and friendly. The food was average. I cannot recommend it and I will never go back.

We went to Pavillon today to meet up with family. A gorgeous spot with beach views. The team are fabulous friendly and funny whilst being attentive and respectful. They anticipated out needs perfectly (especially with a little one) and made is feel at ease to settle in for the next few hours. Food was wonderful. Fresh and tasty with good sized servings. All in all a lovely lunch spot!!

Fantastic views and great service and good food and the manager is really nice and friendly and always looks after us and friendly with everyone , he looks after our dogs , and kids always have a fun time , very polite and professional service and great food And views are amazing totally recommend

I’ve been there before and the service, ambience etc has always been nice. It’s a great location with oven views and sea breezes. Unfortunately, the man believed to be the manager borders on rudeness. He is always short and abrupt with customers, he may be a good manager but belongs in a back room behind the scene so to speak sitting at a desk. His customer service skills at very poor. That alone will turn customers away. On that basis alone, I cannot recommend.
