Marrakech - MAROOCHYDORE
Marrakech
Description
In the realm of Moroccan dining, this restaurant offers a varied culinary experience. Diners rave about the Chicken Preserved Lemon Tajine and Bastilla, highlighting the freshness of ingredients and attentive service. However, many express disappointment with the overall flavor profile, citing overly bland dishes that stray from traditional Moroccan spices. The ambiance is casual and inviting, though parking can be a challenge. While some guests leave enchanted by meals that transport them to Morocco, others yearn for a more authentic approach in the kitchen. A visit promises both delightful and disappointing discoveries.

In my experience the food at this restaurant was very bland and disappointingly lacked in flavor. Although the lamb meat in the tajine was tender, the dish truly lacked in traditional Moroccan spices and didn’t have much taste. I couldn’t taste any almonds, dates, apricots etc which I expect in Moroccan food. Also the kefta pastry roll was just about the same, flavorless and insipid. The service was very nice. Overall it was a pretty disappointing experience, not sure who’s in the kitchen but they definitely don’t make traditional Moroccan food. It needs a massive improvement. Took the family here for a different taste experience. Was not disappointed. Looking at the restaurant from outside its not the flashiest on the st. But we went in as I have read the google reviews that the food is good. Lamb tangine, unbelievable taste, The fish of the day, Awesome and Paella great and large sizes. The entree 3 dips is a little expensive should be twice as much bread. Other than that meeted and succeeded our expectations totally different taste from our Australian tastes . Thumbs up to the chef and the young waiter great job! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$20–40 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes: Seafood Paella, Lamb Tangine
Had dinner here on a quiet Monday night. Indoor and outdoor seating. Seafood Paella, Lamb Couscous and Lamb Tangine Chicken all generous serves and tasty. BYO alcohol with modest corkage charge. Service ok but not professional. Reasonable prices. Have had a lot of paellas over the years but for $26 this one rates well it was nearly too big to eat but I had a good go very tasty indeed my wife had the butter chicken special which was also very good. Well done ! Would recommend Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$40–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Seafood Paella
We ate here 18 months ago and it was superb. The food was authentic and the chef came and spoke to us about it, even sharing some secrets! I think it has now changed hands. The Moroccan chef wasn’t there and the food really lacked that special something. Our paella was burnt and you could taste it. Hardly anyone in the restaurant on a busy Saturday night. We won’t make the trip again. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$20–40 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
