Swiss Chalet - Markham
Swiss Chalet
Description
Swiss Chalet, a well-known chain in the GTA, has been receiving mixed reviews lately. While some customers have complained about the quality of food and service at certain locations, others have praised the fresh taste of the meals and the friendly waitstaff. One reviewer mentioned their disappointment with the takeout experience, citing issues with food preparation and missing items. Despite some negative feedback, there are still patrons who enjoy the food and service at Swiss Chalet, especially pointing out the generous portions and tasty ribs. Overall, it seems that Swiss Chalet continues to be a popular choice for many, but inconsistencies in quality and service may impact repeat business for some customers.

Almost every Sunday, for many years now, we come to this restaurant for lunch after church... Today, I only see 2 familiar servers, only 4 in total serving, they looked very rushed and harassed....chasing their tails.. We had to wait a while to make our order....waited more, only to find out they are out of baked potatoes, so we settled for mashed... While waiting for our bill, I went to make a take out order for family meal, whole chicken, not chopped....waited again, as I expected for my order to be handed to me, I was told they are out of whole chicken, have to wait 15 min Moreno I wanted whole one.. OR ..I have to settle for white meat chopped chicken... Swiss Chalet, runs out of cooked chicken.???? Can you believe that? I had to settle for mixed cut up ch8cken...VERY POOR customer service..
Found a long hair in one chicken dinner, roast beef was dry/ each slice was flipped in half to hide the fat and the grisle, one meal was delivered 8 minutes after all the other 8 meals.
This place inevitably seems to be almost empty, with a 'late night diner ' feel to it. It is also getting shabby with age. Our table was worn and shabby, the paint around the window was chipped, the floor needs to be totally refinished. With this in mind the food was much as to be expected.....ribs that were distinctly less than hot and chicken that had enjoyed its bbq some time well back in the evening. I don 't not think we will be back.
Affordable dining that is healthy and tasty. Love their chicken. Nice and roomy, service is usually quite good.
We had lunch there, there were maybe two other customers. We asked for the wine list, the server brought, there were five entries. prices for 5oz. 8oz. or by bottle. The first white eine entry did not have a price for purchasing by the bottle. We asked the server for the price (the other entries were $25), she went and asked somebody, came back and said. $20.45. We ordered a bottle and 4 glasses. She came back in five minutes and said, that wine is not available by the bottle, but you can have it by a glass. We asked if she is going to pour it from a bottle. She kept saying I pour it in a measuring cup for 5 oz then pour in your glass. We were having a major problem in communication, as she was unable to explain why we couldn't have the whole bottle which is 25 oz. Finally, another server came to explain to us what is happening. We decided to order another wine that comes with a bottle for $25. The second server went and returned a few minutes later and said. That wine is out of stock, We asked which wine is available, it turned out all are not available except the first one that you can only buy by the glass. Finally we ordered 4 glasses of the white wine. we ordered our food. It arrived quickly, the chicken and fries were a bit cold. it was acceptable. We will not be going to that particular swiss chalet at HWY 7 and McCowan again.
