My favourite dish of the night was the lightly battered shrimp morsels. I liked how each one was encrusted with batter that was made of salted duck egg. It was so tasty! View all feedback.
Get there early and often. All dim sum are $3.68/CAD except specialty items before 11am (verify for yourself though) I think this is probably the best dim sum I have ever had. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and now live a couple hours east of Chicago. SkyView is worth the seven hour drive for me and I will be back.
Came here for dimsum with my family and enjoyed their food. They have different dimsum items that I’ve never seen before like deep fried taro with a quail egg in the middle. Good place for dimsum.
Deceptively large inside. The food was alright. Some dishes much better than others. Their barbeque pork (cha-siu) is really good. I highly recommend it. The menu is rather large, like many other Chinese restaurants and the prices are much higher then other places. Service was 'ok '. One of the waitresses was unpleasant and didn 't seem to want to be there, major attitude. Other staff seemed fine though.<br/ <br/ Aside from having a nice looking interior nice presentation of the dishes I don 't think it was worth the time or money. If I come back, it will only be to order takeout of their BBQ pork.
I came here on an early morning 9:30am for dim sum with the relatives. Turned out that they knew some friends that were already there so we just joined them. The decor is very nice for a dim sum restaurant, their attention to detail shows up in the quality of their tea. You order through filling out a menu sheet. There will not be any dim sum carts here. We had their BBQ Pork Rice Roll, Spring Rolls, Turnip Cake, Shrimp Dumpling, and Preserved Egg Congee. They were all very good, portions as well as the taste. My favorite was their Portuguese Chicken pie which was crispy on the outside but very savory and moist on the inside. For about six people the bill came to about $10/person. They have a giant sized projection screen on one end of their restaurant. Perfect for wedding banquets to display photos, World Cup Soccer, and the Super Bowl?
Ordered the set dinner for six, which included: deep fried spring rolls, wonton soup, stir-fried seafood with broccoli, stir-fried beef, sweet sour pork, crispy chicken, BBQ pork, fried rice, and dessert. Out of all the dishes, the BBQ pork really stood out. Waaaay better than the kind you'd get at your usual Chinese take-out place. I'm talking about fresh, juicy, pork- the kind that chopsticks go to war for. <br/ <br/ The stir-fried seafood with crown broccoli was also pretty good. Same goes for the dessert, which weren't fortune cookies despite what may have been written on the menu. Instead, they served us gelatinous sesame and red bean cubes (Chinese jello essentially), something I've never seen before and was pleasantly surprised by. <br/ <br/ Overall, I was impressed with Skyview's attention to detail. They seem to go the extra mile when it comes to presentation and ensuring good quality food. The portions were quite generous too!
