Les Chateaux - Markham
Les Chateaux
Description
This restaurant presents a dichotomy of experiences that leaves diners both disappointed and satisfied. Many patrons lamented the uninspired flavors and small portions, highlighting dishes that fell short of expectations, like the bland Hainan chicken rice and unsatisfying baked pork chop. Meanwhile, some guests enjoyed substantial meals with good taste and reasonable prices. Service quality varied, with several customers reporting long waits and defensive staff responses regarding meal discrepancies. Despite some positive comments about improvements, the overall consensus reflects a struggle between culinary ambition and execution, leading many to reconsider their dining plans.

In my opinion, Les Chateaux attempts to sell expensive seafood in a very simple setting and supplements the menu with Hong Kong style dishes. However, the quality of the food is disappointingly bad. I visited the restaurant twice to give it another chance, but both times I encountered issues such as smelling disinfectant in the water tumblers, slow service in a nearly empty restaurant, menu items being discontinued without notice, and strange ingredient choices like bell peppers in broth. On my second visit, I received the wrong item with the same price listed, and was overcharged for an item.
They are racist and that is very disappointing. I ordered my food and after recieving it they asked me to eat it outside. Considering they have a seating area in the place I found this absolutely ridiculous.
The food at this restaurant was tasteless and lacking in seasoning, with small portion sizes. The Hainan chicken rice was more like egg fried rice with no chicken flavor. The baked pork chop was lacking in actual baking, and the dish mainly consisted of sauce on rice with possibly only one pork chop topped with melted cheese. The prices were higher than average and the overall value was very low.
Curry crab is expensive but amazing...wait till aftet 6 pm whem the head chef will prepare it for
We ordered 5 dishes: lobster curry, malaysian beef curry, veggies, indonesian fried rice, and a noodle dish. The lobster was the first to come out and it was very obvious that they took out some of our lobster as the claws weren’t there and so that left each of us 4 ppl) to have 2 pieces of lobster each. When we told our server, she became defensive and started telling us that some lobsters don’t have claws. But she showed us the lobster before bringing it to the kitchen and the thing had claws. Then we finished the lobster and was waiting for the nan that comes with it and we asked twice and by the time it came out, the curry was cold. Then we waited again for another 20 minutes for the rest of our food in which the servers had to keep confirming what it was that we were waiting for. Then they ran out of the one noodle dish we ordered so the server offered ti give another one for us for free also because of the missing lobster) as well as free dessert. So we finally got everything and asked for our bill. Nothing was taken off our bill. They charged us for the noodles and extra nan $6) which we did not order because it comes with the curry dishes. When we told the server she again became defensive and said she took it off. In which we replied so what are these charges? She was able to take the noodles off but then said she can’t do anything about the nan…. Which makes no sense?¿ The experience we had was awful. It ruined my moms entire night and mine as well. We will not be returning.
