Not fancy. Not pricey. Just good! This restaurant is located close to our home and my husband and I often go. It is almost always very busy but service is swift. We actually order our soup and tell the waiter/waitress that we are not ready to order our main course until we are almost finished our soup. Otherwise, we find that our food arrives at the same time as our soup. We like the won ton shrimp soup. The serving is enough for several bowls each. This past visit we ordered soup, chicken and cashews, garlic green beans and fried rice. The menu is massive and we often order dishes that are not really on the menu but they always seem to accommodate us. We did not order the turnip which is an amazing dish. We do not eat congee but seems like most Asian customers do. We are not Asian and probably have a more American like palette.
Roasted duck and pork is always good. Six grain congee too. Chili turnip is the best version I've had so far. Prices are right and the interior is nice.
The dining room was big and very nicely decorated. We were greeted and taken to our table. We opted to sit out on the patio as the dining room air conditioning was very low and within minutes my wife and I started shivering. There several others out on the patio which by the way was private and very well decorated as well. The only problem was that once our food arrived. we never saw any of the servers again to top up our tea. We then waited for 15 minutes until we went to the dining room to ask for our bill. It was not that busy inside. !The food was plentiful and came out hot and the taste was good.
Went here to celebrate my son's graduation. We were a party of six. The food was a bit bland and expensive compared to congee town. We paid about 250 for a part of 6 (5 different food choices.) On the other hand, we paid 257 at congee town for a group of 12 and a whole lot of food to include lobster.
Congee Queen offers a bustling atmosphere and an extensive menu of delicious Asian dishes. While some locations may suffer from inconsistent food flavor and service, overall, the restaurant provides a satisfying dining experience. The congee dishes are a must-try, and the self-ordering system is efficient. With fast service and a variety of options to choose from, Congee Queen is a great spot for a quick meal. You may encounter some rude staff, but the tasty and affordable food makes up for it. Don't forget to check out their selection of refreshing drinks as well.

Our first in person visit since the pandemic. We both had lunch, which was up to usual standards. However, I had to wait a while for my food. Will visit again hopefully the service will be quicker.
This is our go to restaurant chain for takeout but this location was not as good as our usual. The order was ready on time. We ordered sweet and sour chicken and pork, rice rolls, Chinese greens, three different noodle dishes and fish/beef congee. It was hard to tell the difference between the sweet and sour chicken and pork. The fish in the congee also tasted swampy. Next time will order just the beef congee. Overall just average and will stick to our usual Congee Queen Location.
Food is good; sometimes great. The congee is great! It’s always busy there and the staff can be friendly.
The patio is surprisingly relaxing despite being in a parking lot and in front of Steeles. They put a lot of effort into planting greenery in front and putting up green netting on the sides to block out views of cars. We enjoyed dining on the patio. There was enough shade from the big umbrellas. The food is pretty consistent with the other 2 locations that we've been to. All the dishes we ordered arrived hot and tasty. Service was quick and efficient. Masks were required inside, if we needed to use the washroom. Overall, I would recommend this place for reasonably priced Chinese food with patio seating.

My family’s been going to the Congee Queen (near the Shops At Don Mills for >10 years. It’s our go to place for tasty, moderately priced entres. When one chooses to sit down, it’s an excellent (if sometimes cramped experience… dishes like the spicy turnip patty are crunchy and spicy on the outside fine textured on the inside. The location’s light wood paneling reminds me of som Richmond (B.C. eateries. Congee Queen also does take out. They’re wise about how it’s packaged the wontons are kept separated from the broth. The chow meins have their crispy noodles separated from the saucy coating. For prompt pick up, call ahead and place your order.
We ordered the Pork Hock Lo Mein and also the Garoupa with Bitter Melon Rice from their lunch combo. I liked that their lunch combo included a soup and a small plate of steamed vegetables too (also a spring roll). The size of garoupa fish fillets was substantial and very tasty.
I absolutely love Congee Queen! This is the go-to place for delicious Asian cuisine. My favorite dish is the chili turnip patties - they are incredibly tasty, along with the other items on the menu.
The service here was impressively fast, even when the restaurant was full. Our food started arriving in less than 10 minutes after we placed our order. The staff were very accommodating, even seating us at a booth upon request during their busy dinner rush. I can't speak to how the service is for non-Chinese parties, though. The atmosphere at this Cantonese restaurant was lively and bustling, but it was still easy to have a conversation at a normal volume. Overall, it's a great place to satisfy your craving for congee and other Cantonese dishes. Tip: You can ask for reduced salt and/or oil in most dishes when you place your order, if you prefer.
I visited Congee Queen for the first time last night, where I tried congee for the first time as well. We ordered the shrimp and scallops congee and ginger beef lo mein. The congee was a generous portion, although lacking in scallops. I found the congee a bit bland, but enjoyed it more after adding some chili. It is definitely a healthy choice with a variety of congee options at reasonable prices. The lo mein was not to my liking, as the beef was bland. I ended up using chili oil to enhance the flavors of all the dishes. The service was slow but the staff was friendly. Despite my experience, I would consider returning to try something else from their menu.

When I go to Congee Queen I always order a congee dish! They have a solid selection of menu items from the classics to nicer seafood options. Beware that food flavour isn't very consistent when you go to the same place, and even across different locations in the chain. Service is alright and the atmosphere is typical of a Chinese restaurant. I'd come again if I'm in the area!
Food quality lowered. The meat, both sweet and sour pork, and the fish pot, were over deep fried. Meat is tough and hard to chew.Vegetables are fresh though. Tofu is also good.Unfortunately this might be the lead time we visit this restaurant.Quite disappointed with the meat.Note, the dishes looks good, just the meat is overcook and tough.
Food came out fairly quickly. The quality is pretty good but a lot of their dishes could definitely use a little more flavour to it. The stir fry noodle was super bland.Customer service was ok as well. You definitely have to chase someone down to take your order and pretty much when you need to ask for anything.
The dish size was served in a smaller portion compared to last time, with an increase in price. But food is still delicious.
I was surprised to realize that I have never reviewed this restaurant, as I have been a customer for years. The service is always fast, and the self-ordering system (QR code provided upon being seated) is very efficient. You can still order in the traditional way with the staff if you prefer. The QR code option on your phone includes pictures of the food, although it may not be complete, it gives you a good idea of what most items look like (the physical menu has fewer photos). It's worth noting that the customer service here is not warm or westernized, as my girlfriend pointed out - she believes that if the staff is rude, the food is good. I find that sentiment funny and somewhat true. However, I personally didn't experience rude service at this restaurant. For around $100, you can enjoy a large bowl of congee, fried rice to share, 2 dishes, and all 5 people in your group can still be satisfied. They offer a 5% discount for cash payments, but do not accept American Express cards. Parking can be a bit challenging, but it's worth being patient.
