Chloe’s Garden - Markham
Chloe’s Garden
Description
Nestled in a unique setting reminiscent of a Chinese sports bar, the restaurant offers a diverse menu that has garnered attention for both its potential and shortcomings. While some dishes, like the sweet and sour pork, evoke nostalgic flavors reminiscent of Hong Kong, others, such as the Hainan chicken rice, fell flat, described as bland and lacking seasoning. Service varied, with some staff providing friendly assistance while others seemed less engaged. Though the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, the recent increase in prices versus portion sizes has left some patrons feeling disappointed. Overall, it remains a spot worth a visit for its fun vibe and intriguing menu, but improvements in flavor and value are needed.

Tldr: blandThis used to be a very confusing establishment with its very traditional Chinese name, cute English name, and half the dining area like a sports bar and the other half as a Hong Kong diner for middle aged ladies.Today, it is bland.I say this as a person whose fav dish is yu choy cooked only in water with a pinch of salt.I got the Hainan chicken rice since I saw 4 other people order it, and the tray looked cute. Yeesh, this was possibly the blandest chicken rice I have tasted in a decade. Legit not much to write about.I also got the salted egg chicken wings. The batter and skin were great since that's where 100% of the flavour was. The actual meat was more bland than the chicken.Furthermore, we asked to be seated in the right half where there are 3 vents because it was extremely hot. They said no because it's not filled up.... It's lunch on a Saturday. You telling me that it doesn't fill up on a Saturday?5 min later, they seated people there. It was so hot that my mom and I fanned ourselves as we ate. The boss saw us and brought out a Honeywell fan, the same fan we have at home, to blow the hot air around. This ain't it. Such great potential is lost. Please season or marinate the chicken wings before battering them. It was as boring as nam2's wings.
The food go downhill compared to the year before. The portion is tiny, but the price increased a lot, time to try something else.
The portion of noodles was quite small, and the flavors were just average. As for the service, while some waitstaff were friendly, others were not so helpful. I was pleased to find that there was no wait on a Sunday afternoon.
Not sure why rating this low. This place rocks. It is like a Chinese sport bar with TVs in Chinese. The menu is fantastic and covers wide range of food. I dislike people with attitude that they just leave negative feedbacks. This place is so fun but couldn’t understand a single word from tv. We it was lunch time and we went go this multiple high rise with plaza in the middle. Very hard to find parking. The place is like a sport bar. The service is great and they explain every item. We tried chicken wings with eggs and they were phenomenal. The waygu dish was a wow. Tried few other dishes. Prices very reasonable. Hope client be truthful and give this place the right stars
