Baker Duck - Markham
Baker Duck
Description
Located in Woodside Square, this Asian bakery has garnered mixed reviews. Though it offered a delightful array of classic and unique baked goods at reasonable prices, the establishment's closure due to operating without a food license raises concerns about its management. While many customers appreciate the deliciousness of items like sugar donuts and various buns, some express issues with quality, such as overly oily pastries and hard bread from mystery boxes. Despite inconsistencies, the bakery’s friendly staff and appealing selection keep patrons returning, eager to explore new and tasty offerings.

This bakery creates traditional Chinese curry buns and barbecue pork buns just like they used to. The buns are generously filled with ingredients and are highly recommended. You will love the freshly baked buns. They are very affordable and offer great value for the price.
I purchased a surprise box from Too Good To Go. I understand that it is a mystery box and may not have been made on the same day, but it should still be fresh. The bread was extremely hard and impossible to bite into. The presentation was lackluster and unappetizing, resembling something a beggar would eat.
The restaurant located at Woodside Square (Finch/McCowan) has been closed since earlier in February due to operating without a food license the entire time it was in operation. It is important to consider this before buying their food, as it reflects poorly on the owner. This practice is unacceptable, especially considering I used to be a regular customer.
They have many classic and unique bakery buns as well as small cakes. The prices were fairly average and not too expensive. Most of the buns were all delicious but some were too oily or had too much sauce in it. It’s a great place to come try new types of baked goods.
