Lake View Inn - Markesan
Lake View Inn
Description
Perched on the lake along Highway 44, this casual spot draws crowds for a scenic, family-friendly atmosphere, free parking and standout Friday fish fry and broasted chicken. Service is often warm and attentive, though owner behavior and intermittent short staffing can sour visits. Food quality is inconsistent — some dishes shine (walleye, bluegill, cheese curds, broasted potatoes) while steaks and chicken can be overcooked or thinly portioned. Prices are modest, rotating specials keep the menu interesting, but note limited scratch-made options and accessibility gaps.

We decided to try this restaurant for dinner with the family on a whim. We were disappointed to find that there was no kids' menu. Despite that, I thought the food was delicious and packed with flavor.
We stopped in for lunch while picking up some trees in the area. The bluegill was excellent, and my wife really enjoyed her burger, which is impressive since she's quite picky! The views were fantastic, and the prices were reasonable. I give this place 5 stars!
First drink was $4.50. Next was $6. Ordered a rare steak sandwich. Confirmed it would be a ribeye. Added mushrooms. Served chopped up dry well done pieces, like a dry French dip (without au jus they do have a French dip sandwich on the menu). 5 mushroom pieces. Talked with the owner. Was told they used to have a steak sandwich that the cook must have chopped it up after tenderizing . A description for the steak sandwich should read chopped steak . Also ordered the 4 piece Broasted chicken. Overdone. Breading was hard greasy. The breast was dry. Broasted potatoes and cheese balls (curds) were good. ****** Mary was good, but not from scratch. Rocky was great and attentive.
Great little bar with a spectacular view of the lake. Very entertaining bar staff also!
