Between Micanopy and McIntosh outside of Gainesville, is a really cool little yellow building that I have passed a dozen times, or more. When I finally figured out that it was a restaurant, then I started paying more attention. At last I saw someone in the drive through and so decided I wanted to stop. They have a very extensive menu, including chicken and waffles. I got a sausage biscuit and a cup of coffee, a good driving and eating meal. There was a bit of a wait, as the biscuit and sausage were prepared fresh, and the coffee was fresh brewed also. But lets go back. The lady at the drive through window was very friendly and efficient. She was also the lady handing out the food and collecting money at the pickup window. Again she was really friendly. Also, the bag had everything I needed, napkins, fork, knife etc. Many times they miss these things in a drive through. When you go, you get off of the road, and the north side of the building is where you drive in. There is a large menu that you can see and pick out what you want. Then go to the first window, it is the orders. The outside mic seems not to work. Then you go to the next window to pick up. The sausage biscuit was perfect. It was flaky, and light. The sausage was nice, and not greasy. It eats really well. The coffee was hot, and not bitter. A decent robust flavor. All in all, I am glad I stopped, and I plan to add it to my morning routines.
It was fried to perfection but to salty to eat. I’m sure it was just a mistake and the food would be great otherwise. Didn’t see seats so are it in a park in evinston
The Southern Stop Restaurant is engaging in questionable practices by illegally paying their employees in cash while skirting tax obligations. The staff lacks proper hygiene, often not washing their hands or wearing gloves correctly, a practice encouraged by the owner to cut costs on gloves. Additionally, some of their recipes involve using chicken that is two days past its expiration date, again for the sake of saving money. They also falsely claim to be owned and operated by The University of Florida and represent it. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place! #UF #UniversityofFlorida #GoGators
