I wish I could give this place 4 or 5 stars. our meat cuts were delicious and amazing. the problem is that this place is expensive and everything we got was bland and very little. with high trips and small portions I feel in these cases, they get less food, but it is soou good, it ends with taste and works out. this is not the case here. the garnel and gänse with XO sauce were dirty, the potato-au-grain was bland and... I wish I could give this place 4 or 5 stars. our meat cuts were delicious and amazing. the problem is that this place is expensive and everything we got was bland and very little. with high trips and small portions I feel in these cases, they get less food, but it is soou good, it ends with taste and works out. this is not the case here. the garnel and gänse with XO sauce were dirty, the potato-au-grain was bland and like 5 slices of kartoffel. the pommes were pommes, the spargel was brunette, the chimichurri sauce was blande. again the meat was perfectly cooked and really well costed, I think we expected only more taste of everything else for the price.
Food was delicious. We shared grilled octopus, scallop and strawberry tartine appetizers. We then shared the Monterey Bay black cod as our main course which was just amazing! Our waiter was great and all the staff went out of their way to make our meal perfect. I highly recommend!
We asked for fast service due to an appointment we needed to keep. The server was great in getting our order expedited. The only comment is that $64 for a bone in steak, which had very little meat on it (and a very large bone) was an excessive price to pay. Happy to pay that amount if the steak actually had a full serving of meat on the bone.
We reserved a table for 18:30, arrived at 18:35 (our bad), but were then presented with a five minute wait at the door, which we spent staring slightly baffled at a more or less empty restaurant. Why the five minute wait? The oysters and octopus to start were good. Our drinks took a long time to arrive. We had several servers within the first five mins (as other reviewers have said). A slightly odd to experience. The servers then decided to bring our mains without taking away our starter plates. I've not seen that before. I'd prefer not to again. We then ordered a glass of wine to go with the fish main. The drinks took so long that by the time they came we needed to ask for the fish to be reheated. Slightly frustrated, we asked where the drinks were. We were told the bar staff were backed up. The restaurant was about a third full. No apology was made for how long things took. All of the above would be forgivable if it weren't for the eye watering prices. Saltwood: if you're going to charge $27 for a burger, get the basics right. The food was very good, though. Well done chefs. Poor show, servers and bar staff.
The flavors were great, nice ambiance, good service…the oysters were tiny.We ordered a lot of dishes (as you can see from the photos) and spent a lot of time enjoying the place. The scallops dish was nice but I would have liked just the simple plain scallops, instead of the charred flavor of coffee crust. The fresh oysters, even though tiny, tasted great. Wouldn’t recommended the grilled oysters.
