Only a 20 minute walk out of Maria Alm. The walk can also be ridden on a bike and is a lovely spot. Great views of the mountains and the village below. Relaxed atmosphere and well worth a visit. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Postalm:
The kitchen from what I can tell is not the heart of this place, if you like deep fried chips and schnitzel followed by microwave deserts you'll get on alright here. The location is beautiful and inside is a classic alpine mountain restaurant complete with red and white checkered everything, I can recommend the views and the beer, beyond that better food can be found on the Natrun mountain. We went a few times during our ski tour to Maria Alm and it is definitely one of our favorite places to stop for lunch or drinking. It is not too big, so during the busy days it can be difficult to find a place within bit with good weather, they also have plenty of space outside. Since we were in early January, there was usually no problem finding a nice place, but on a Sunday it was difficult to find a place. As said, the atmosphere is very cozy, the place is very clean and the service was very friendly. The food we ordered was beautifully presented and must say that the Kaiserschmarn I had several times was very delicious!! The only small minus is that card payments are not possible. Surely we will visit her again when we visit Maria Alm again.
The views are great, and the food was reasonable. We had carvings with normal potatoes (not frits), goulash soup and apple strudel. The strudel was very good, the rest so, but what really pampered the experience was the ubiquitous smoking. No one had the courtesy to ask if we were thinking. People shine right next to you when you are halfway through your meal; the waiter simply shrunk his shoulders and said that there is nothing he could do, it is allowed in Austria to smoke outside. The waiter was pretty unfriendly. It's a place where we would like to come back, but not if we have to sit in, just to enjoy a meal without being smoked! I am sure that a restaurant can call smoker and non-smoking zones that have only one section for smokers would be fine so that the rest of us who are aware of the dangers of smoking is not forced to breathe in secondary smoke. Wake up!
Just a 20-minute walk from Maria Alm. The walk can also be ridden on a bicycle and is a beautiful place. Great views of the mountains and the village below. Relaxing atmosphere and worth a visit.
