This parking area is excellent for those who want to ski in Plan de Corones given that it is about 100... read more Ritterkeller parking area can host about 120 campervans. This parking area is excellent for those who want to ski in Plan de Corones given that it is about 100 meters from the Miara gondola cableway (i.e. the main one in S. Vigilio). The ski slope is even closer, because from the parking area there is a snow covered trail  about 80 meters long that is grafted into the final part of the Miara slope. Therefore, in the peak season (when there is snow, as I personally experienced in January 2018) you put the skis directly outside the campervan and go to the gondola skiing. The parking area is very sunny and, therefore, during the sunny days it is possible to turn off the heating of the campervan even in full winter. To reach the parking area there is a fairly steep climb almost 100 meters long, but it is possible to reach it with winter tires without use of chains. Being a parking equipped area, the managers only provide electricity, water and drainage. As far as electricity is concerned, the regulation states that electric heaters cannot be used; I have not tried to connect the electric heaters because I have a diesel heater, but nearby campers have confirmed that the plug has no power for devices with more than 1000 W. Due to the fact that this is not a camping, but a parking area no facilities such as bathrooms, showers, ski room, etc are available. This circumstance may be very uncomfortable for campers with children, as they do not know where to leave the (wet) winter clothes overnight. I have three small children and I solved the problem by renting a heated three seater locker in the ski depot located at the groundfloor of the Miare gondola facility, at a price of € 44 for 4 days. Another problem that scared me when I booked the parking equipped area was the water supply. In fact, for long stops in general I prefer campsites because of the convenience of using toilets, bathrooms, showers; in short, all those services that require water. I was therefore afraid of being without water; but this did not occur because the managers made available a waterspout several hundred meters long to fill the tanks without having to move the campervans. The center of San Vigilio can be reached with a 10 15 minute walk along a quite busy road. The managers, on request, issue the weekly card to use free public transport throughout South Tyrol, including the ski bus (Holiday Pass Premium). The owners of the equipped area also manage a bar restaurant pizzeria, where it is also possible to book bread and croissants for the morning. During Christmas Holiday 2018, I paid € 30/day for 5 people.
